I always enjoy posting that my Baratza Sette 270 has ground coffee like a champ since the day I got it, low retention, a little loud yeah but it grinds for espresso and does filter coffee when it’s not dialed in for my espresso machine. Everyone always tells me online that it’s too loud but I don’t

It sucks that you're outside of 1 year warranty, I'd still see if Baratza will replace it? Since the gearbox / motor fix didn't work. They may do you a solid and send you a new unit. If you end up upgrading, what're you wanting to spend and get out of your machine? Mostly milk drinks or mostly strai

Here’s my very first setup… but a Baratza Sette 270 conical burr grinder is on the way, which will give us much better, more consistent grounds for espresso = much more dialed in espresso! I simply LOVE my CASABREWS CM5418 Espresso Machine. If I keep up the hobby, in time, I’ll most likely move up t

I meant Baratza sette 270. You're referring to the hibrew range. I got a Baratza sette 270 in 30k and I think that's the cheapest for a really good grinder. I have used a Eureka Zero which is 45k and the sette is better.

The K6 is the best option with that budget. Imo, you would need to in invest at least $300 for an electric grinder to see one even match the results of the K6. I had the Baratza Sette 270 for two years, which was about the best I could get for $200 (second hand). Guess what: The K6 was better.

I love my Baratza Sette 270 for what it’s worth. I mostly do espresso but it can grind much more coarsely. I currently keep decaf beans in the grinder on my Breville Barista Express Impress and use the Sette 270 for my daily beans. The Sette 270 is loud but consistent. I’ll mirror what a lot of peop

OMG…my Baratza Sette 270 is so loud that it stops conversation in my neighbor’s house across the road. ;) But it gets the job done at an affordable price.

I was one of the first to buy the Sette 270 when it became available. After dealing with some early production issues (which resulted in a quick replacement unit from Baratza) I've never looked back. I've been grinding 4 doses a day for over 6 years. Yes, I added a shim once which is no big deal, an

You can find a used Breville Bambino on EBay for ~$200 which is a great starter machine, or possibly the Bambino Plus. Pair this with a capable grinder like the DF64, Sette 270, Baratza Encore, or Timemore 064s + grab a cheap tamp, tamping mat, and puck screen and you’ll get way more value than any

"Did you find the cost and time of an espresso machine worth it?" Yes. Absolutely. Six or seven years since I went down the home espresso rabbit hole, it is worth it, and I only make 1 drink per day most days. I have varying investments in machines & grinders at home, at work, and at my S.O.'s house
