I’ve been very happy with this combo, it’s also easy to maintain and fix . https://www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-classic-e24 https://www.wholelattelove.com/collections/espresso-grinders/products/baratza-sette-270-conical-burr-grinder?variant=14409149186107

I love that you committed to the video all the way until it started squirting on the lens, absolute cinema. I have been on your journey -- I tried so hard to save money on espresso grinding. I started with a KitchenAid grinder that was a super thoughtful gift from my mom and a cheap Hario hand grind

I assume it’s an Encore ESP you have, in which case yes, it’ll do you fine as you dial-in. If it’s the base Encore, then not so much — it lacks the resolution to adjust grind size appropriately for espresso. budget: $200-400 German/italian/western make Oof, this will be tricky. Low end Eurekas can f

In cup, Niche Zero is pretty similar, but as others have noted, out of budget, especially with the tariff nonsense rendering them especially unworthy. Baratza Sette 270 is noisy, plasticky, and janky. But excellent support from Baratza and the Etzinger burr gets you better texture and flavor (more c

Where are you going to register? Most department stores don't carry specialty grinders suitable for espresso. Assuming you are in the US, if you register at a specialty store like Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table, or Crate & Barrel you'll be able to get a Baratza ESP which is an OK grinder. If you regi

It sucks that you're outside of 1 year warranty, I'd still see if Baratza will replace it? Since the gearbox / motor fix didn't work. They may do you a solid and send you a new unit. If you end up upgrading, what're you wanting to spend and get out of your machine? Mostly milk drinks or mostly strai

The Sette 270 is an excellent piece of gear. I’ve loved mine since 2019 (and use it 2-4 times a day) and finally this April the gearbox gears had finally stripped. I sent Baratza customer support a video, they put me in touch with a real human, and they sent me a replacement gearbox for free. They s

I have the same Infuser - 10 years and a few repairs. I dropped it once so it leaks a bit but still makes a mean espresso. It is paired with a nice Baratza Sette 270.

I was one of the first to buy the Sette 270 when it became available. After dealing with some early production issues (which resulted in a quick replacement unit from Baratza) I've never looked back. I've been grinding 4 doses a day for over 6 years. Yes, I added a shim once which is no big deal, an

I don't know about starter grinders, sorry. I can just confidently advise to stay clear of Baratza Sette 270. I had two of these and both failed due to internal PLASTIC gearbox failing, within a year of buying. It is made to fail. After that I bought Ceado E37S and I am very happy with it, but the p
