For those who bought 64GB Mac, are you (un)happy?

I am finding the 64GB M4 Pro mac mini pretty useful however on planning -> coding skills it still sucks relative to frontier models hosted in datacenters. When adding unit tests for instance it faked results on error and did all kind of other dumb things that I never once ever saw with Sonnet models

Mac Mini and Mac Studio Facing Extreme Shipping Delays Amid Severe RAM Shortage

Except this is exactly why the high RAM devices are in such shortage. They ARE running OpenClaw LLMs locally, as the 64GB Mac mini option is near unmatched in terms of available memory, memory bandwidth and power consumption. For the cost of an Nvidia GPU capped at 24GB (and not accounting for other

M4 32gb 512gb or M4 pro 24gb 512gb

Pro has much faster RAM AND SSD .. NO EXTERNAL DRIVE WILL READ/WRITE FASTER THAN AN INTERNAL SSD as internal SSD is used in most if not all regular writes/reads. In a Mac, file caching occurs in both RAM and on the SSD. 256 GB SSD writes at 1,500-2,000 MB/s. It will constrain effective speed of USB4

Does anyone know if Apple is actually planning to better optimize its use of Apple Silicon cores in Logic Pro ?

It’s pretty optimized, I’m not sure what you mean here. Audio processing isn’t always best handled by parallel processing on multiple cores. It’s critical when recording audio that everything happens sequentially and single cores do that more reliably. RAM is going to be the thing that makes the dif

M4 32GB ram vs M4Pro 24GB ram

M4 Pro 512 GB SSD M4 Pro Mac Mini features high-performance internal SSD storage with read speeds around 6,000 MB/s and write speeds of approximately 5,500–5,500 MB/s. These speeds are significantly faster than the base M4 model. Plus Faster RAM

M4 Pro Mini

I’m jealous!! I got the base M4 Pro Mac Mini last year and I love it. But to have 64GB RAM and 2TB storage would be awesome!! And especially not having to pay the vary large price for that config. Nice!

RAM usage after patch (Mac via WINE)

Historically, lotroclient64.exe has used up to 5.5gb of RAM. At some point during the last few months – I'm not sure exactly when it began because I wasn't looking for it at the time – a patch resulted in lotroclient64.exe consuming much more RAM. I have seen usage up to 12gb as reported by Activity

Should I go for the m4 pro?

The base Mac Mini in the USA is $599. You are spending a fortune on huge apple premium for ram and storage. That stuff depreciates quickly and can't be moved to a new machine when you upgrade. Once you are going to such a high spec mac you are much better off getting a Mac Studio. Why do you need 64

M4 32GB vs M4 Pro 24GB for local LLMs (coding + agents)

AIUI the single biggest bottleneck for most local LLM uses is memory bandwidth. From personal experience my M4 Pro Mac Mini with 24GB beats my M5 Macbook Pro with 32GB. There are some exciting things happening right now with memory efficiency (Turboquant, better MoE models) so if I had to choose, I'

Mac mini m4 or Mac studio M1 Max?

Why do people think you need 32GB of memory??? Mac mini is great but once you start adding a lot of RAM the price gets so high that one should start considering a Studio instead. I have a M4 Pro Mac mini with 24GB RAM and that’s more memory than I currently need, but I’m not a power user.
