For those who bought 64GB Mac, are you (un)happy?

I am finding the 64GB M4 Pro mac mini pretty useful however on planning -> coding skills it still sucks relative to frontier models hosted in datacenters. When adding unit tests for instance it faked results on error and did all kind of other dumb things that I never once ever saw with Sonnet models

Graviton5 Outperforming Intel Xeon Granite Rapids But Falls Short Of AMD EPYC Turin

I was compiling an updated dataset here and was surprised the way the SPEC single thread numbers puts Turin head and shoulders above apple silicon (well, i think it's more apple silicon just not doing great in it) which I was not expecting. I think it's just not a great choice of bench but the forma

Parents iMac M1 broke down - what would you do?

Take it to a very reputable repair store that specializes in microsoldering. I guess the quote of 850€ is from apple for a swap cause its imposible it costs that for a soldering repair. I dont know what exactly happens to the board as you didnt specify but im very sure if it doesnt boot its just a v

Oh that’s too bad. You should have bought a bigger SSD

Weird because I have a T7 I use for music production and I’ve been getting slow disk/overload errors in logic on an M4 Pro Mac mini with 24GB ram. That machine is more than capable of what I’m throwing at it and I’ve had 2015 Intel MacBooks and M1 MacBooks work larger projects off the same drive fin

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 15 December 2025

What's the weirdest solution you've found to a problem in your hobby? TL/DR for my case: I have a Mac and a Samsung monitor and switching from HDMI to DisplayPort connection is confirmed to have gotten rid of all but two of my display issues. One of the two remaining issues it reduced greatly. The o

LOL what?

OpenCL is not a gaming benchmark either. M4 Pro Mac mini scores about half of RTX 5060 Ti on 3DMark's Steel Nomad, which is a gaming benchmark. So yes, low-end gaming class.

For Base M1 Macbook Air users, did you decide to keep your air over the spirtual sucessor Macbook Neo and wy?

I don’t see a reason to trade in an M1 for a neo. That’s actually a downgrade. The point of the Neo is to address the worldwide economic collapse and provide competition for all the cheap, crappy windows laptops you see on display at Walmart and target and even Best Buy. If you have a base M1 then t

Does anyone know if Apple is actually planning to better optimize its use of Apple Silicon cores in Logic Pro ?

It’s pretty optimized, I’m not sure what you mean here. Audio processing isn’t always best handled by parallel processing on multiple cores. It’s critical when recording audio that everything happens sequentially and single cores do that more reliably. RAM is going to be the thing that makes the dif

Used 2019 Mac Pro (7,1) still worth buying in 2026?

Runs great and you can have triple OS install, I have Mac OS, Linux, and Windows. I installed Bazzite on mine and it’s running games great still on Sequoia for Mac OS, don’t see any reason to install Tahoe on it. Have a rx6900xt for Mac OS and rx7900xtx for Bazzite and Windows. If you can get it che
