I guess I'm weird and irregular... I upgraded from an M1 Max Mac Studio to an M4 Pro Mac mini and love it. I'm able to emulate games in RPCS3 at higher resolutions with better FPS. The CPU improvements are noticeable. I also have an M4 MacBook Air but I find myself using my Mac mini much, much more.

LOL what?
OpenCL is not a gaming benchmark either. M4 Pro Mac mini scores about half of RTX 5060 Ti on 3DMark's Steel Nomad, which is a gaming benchmark. So yes, low-end gaming class.

Do it, your plan sounds great. PS5 Pro is the sweet spot and I did basically the same thing just before the price hike. We're also an Apple household. I got back into gaming recently by playing Windows games through CrossOver on my M4 Pro Mac Mini. It worked very well (finished Expedition 33 on it)

I'm looking for the right mac desktop model for AAA title/indie gaming
AAA gaming on a Mac isn't an amazing experience, not at any reasonable price anyway. I can play some games on my M4 Pro Mac Mini but it gets absolutely crushed in CP2077 if you're trying to run at a higher resolution with HDR. My suggestion is to get a subscription to Geforce Now, or build a PC and

I'm looking for the right mac desktop model for AAA title/indie gaming
DO NOT BUY A MAC FOR GAMING and do not over buy thinking that extra RAM or CPU will be the difference maker for games. A Mac mini has the M4 Pro option, way cheaper than a Studio. You can likely buy a M4 Pro Mac mini and a Switch2 cheaper than the base Mac Studio.
