Synology NAS harddrive question
Regular consumer NAS models no longer have the drive restrictions. I assume you're not looking to get an enterprise NAS so you should be fine getting a consumer model like a DS series. If you are still interested in getting a Synology NAS, make sure it's a plus (+) model and choose one with AVX supp

Very Impressed with Immich!
Thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated :)! Yea, I realized that any serious bulk upload from mobile app is somewhat hard, there are quite a few posts/threads about that scattered here and there on reddit and other boards. I think there is some room for improvements for the devs, we shall se

PMS on pc or NAS?
I use a Syno DS423+ with Intel Celeron J4125 CPU (a 2019 CPU with Intel QuickSync capable iGPU). I have PlexPass. I think it's fantastic. I have 5 AppleTV devices around the house, and I share this out with perhaps five other frequent users and 5 other infrequent users. I have 100mbps up and gigabit

Rebuilding an Unraid machine - need some setup advice
I own both, please don’t shoot me. Aside from LLM, and assuming you got an Intel-based Synology like a DS423+ or similar, what of the items you listed could the Synology not fully handle? I use docker all the time on my Synology; it’s the most common application installation environment on the plane

Bare minimum minipc for home theater?
Definitely. I have a ds423+ synology NAS, which has a Celeron J4125. Ive been shocked with how much stuff I could do with that system, as far as dockers go. I probably have 20 of them running. That J4125 is significantly slower than something like an n100, that's in all the cheap mini pcs and your 9

Photographers - give me your best advice from experience?
Standard backup protocol is 3-2-1. 3 copies, 2 mediums, 1 offsite. For many people, simply having a NAS with a cloud backup is a good start. To be more secure, you would have another NAS in maybe a family member's home to mirror your own NAS. That would fulfil 3 copies (2 nas 1 cloud), 2 mediums (hd

Which 4-bay should I get?
Key Differences Networking Speed The QNAP TS-433 wins on raw speed out of the box. It features a 2.5GbE port, which is significantly faster than the standard 1GbE ports found on the Synology models. If you have a modern router or switch, the QNAP will move files much faster. Software Experience (QTS

The connection works with other apps.

Google Drive sync status icons disappeared from Windows Explorer
Same issue for me... I have a DS423+, since I've updated the DSM, my disks don't go to sleep at all. After the update I needed to refresh the Synology Drive Client too, and am facing the same issue as you. Well done, Synology! 🙄 Have you found a solution?

First NAS + Local AI Setup — Synology vs UGREEN vs Others?
Yeah, it feels like Synology has taking a step back from wanting to be the best nas manufacturer for consumers. Their focus definitely seems to be on software only. Most of their models are quite dated, but with that said, they seem to run a long time. Their naming nomenclature ends with the year th
