I currently have 16 gigs of RAM on my UG NAS DXP4800+ but half of it is being used … should I drop 700 USD on 96 Gigs of ram? No.

Nas too noisy for living room?
Im using a Ugreen DXP4800+ and the noise levels are fine. Its running 4x4tb drives. Sure it's noisy from time to time when copying data and more than a couple of people are using it but it's mostly silent with the disks on powersave. The key here is to use an m.2 drive to host Docker and its contain

NAS is dead. What should I move to?
I’d avoid Synology, they’ve been causing quite the controversy lately. UGreen has some nice pre built NAS in 2/4/6/8 bay models that let you install any OS you want, including TrueNAS. They have a 4 bay model and another 4 bay with 10Gbe. DXP4800 and DXP4800 Plus. Base model is Intel n100 CPU with 3

Kickstarter campaign “dynamic pricing”
Very good chance I just try and get my $30 refunded. I have 2 DXP4800 Plus units now, so this, while a nice upgrade, isn't really a necessity for me. And if they are moving the goalpost and no longer have guarenteed pricing for the pre-order, I think it's time to wash my hand of the situation.

Would these be suitable to setup a very beginners NAS?
You can get a proper NAS for your money, an all in one package if you like. Look for UGREEN NASync DXP4800 Plus or simmilar.

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas?
I never used UGOS. I’m sure it’s fine but TrueNAS has been extremely good on my DXP4800+.

What NAS are you all using?
Nearly identical setup here except it's the DXP4800 Plus. Works like a dream.

💌 A fan wrote to us: “Should I upgrade my NAS in 2026?”
"for several years." COME ON! I mean, the DXP4800 Plus was release Q3 2024 :D. This post doesn't make sense. I have a DS 214+ running just fine. You change a NAS if you want to have more drives... not for other reasons. And when you purchase a NAS you should buy it with the next 5-7 years in mind.
