PSA: The UNAS 2's "2.5GbE" NIC is a USB-attached Realtek running a 3-year-old driver, and mine just stopped negotiating gigabit

You genuinely might want to avoid Synology as well, UGreen would be my recommendation. Synology reversed their ban of third party HDD/SSD drives recently (M.2 drives are still banned) except the language they used in the press release implies they're DEFINITELY going to try again in the future. Also

Jellyfin suddenly lagging with 4K Videos.

You would need a better cpu/gpu that can run 4k stuff. So I would recommend getting a mini PC with an intel cpu that can encode and then set up your jellyfin on that and have the Synology NAS mounted to it and basically just be storage. Jellyfin from the mini pc will do all the jellyfin work and pul

HowTo install on Synology

IcI assume you have a older version of a Synology NAS. Those do not work with AVX which is needed to Maschine Learning. Have the same problem with my DS218+

DS425+ or DS925+. Do i need hardware transcoding?

Personally, even if you don't expect to need transcoding, it's nice to have it if the occasion came up. I don't know much about that Ryzen processor, so I guess my question is what are you going to be doing that you think would take advantage of it over the Celeron? Some people like to say that Syno

DS425+ or DS925+. Do i need hardware transcoding?

I can't imagine why you would buy a synology with 10+ year old processors when you can get any of the new entries in the last couple years and get a dramatically better value. Everything synology sells is obsolete, and they haven't bothered iwth new processors in 7+ years. I have 4 synology NASs, ev

Hardware recommendations?

I run Jellyfin on my Synology NAS (which is much less powerful than your specs) without any issues. Intel Quick Sync (for hardware transcoding) is the only requirement. A mini PC with an Intel CPU is more than adequate for a Jellyfin server.
