Looks like Thinkpad L14, Lenovo’s “budget” Thinkpad will cost the same as Framework Laptop 13 Pro for identical CPU, SSD and RAM specs.
4TB 990 EVO Plus on Amazon right now for £525, but that 2.5” 4TB 870 EVO is up for £839. That’s just wild, what the hell.

Louis Rossmann is suing Samsung after firm offers $330 refund for defective SSD while selling the drives on Amazon for $949 — spat over 4TB 990 Pro SSD is headed to court
I just checked and I bought a 2TB 990 EVO Plus NVMe drive on July 8, 2025 for $113.99 on Amazon. That same drive right now is listed at $397.99. A drive that's a year old is now more than 3 times the price. That's absolute highway robbery.

Same, I bought a Samsung 4TB 990 EVO Plus on sale for something like CAD $300 last year. Even that felt kind of expensive for 4TB of storage. The current prices are just stupid. And I don't believe for one second that there is an actual shortage. If there was a shortage so severe as to justify these

Us this a legit offering as it does seem a bit cheap
The price is very high, but quite aligned to current price increases for other brands. I used to buy 2TB for as low as 79 euro and 4TB Lexar drives for 198 two years ago. Even few months back was able to get 2TB 990 Evo Plus for 140 euro, so half the price of this.

AMD PC build
The 990 EVO is discontinued. The 990 EVO Plus is overpriced. The NV7400 uses the MAP1602A controller, and Biwin is the manufacturer behind HP and Acer SSDs, so it is quite reliable.

Alight, this is getting into ridiculous territory. Who on Earth would pay this?
OP, if you need a drive that fits in a SATA drive slot, you could always use an M.2 adapter and slot an NVMe SSD in, a 990 EVO Plus is cheaper and newer (I think) than the 870 EVO pictured

I just ordered my first ever Mac ( Mac mini m4 pro) need some advice.
You are making a smart decision and I was in the same boat on my first Mac upgrade path. If your roadmap includes video edits, Photoshop, and 3D, Apple Mac mini M4 Pro (24GB 1TB) is the option that usually avoids an early upgrade ceiling. For cost control, I would start from 512GB and add the Samsun

PC Specialist Configured 'Topaz Ultra' - Is this fine?
You could be getting a RTX 5080 for that budget, or saving more money. 9950X3D isn't going to perform much better than a 9800X3D when gaming at 1440p. You'll also want a bigger CPU cooler. Performance difference between a fast NVMe SSD and an ultra fast one is not noticeable. Grab the 2TB Klevv C925
