It doesn’t have a DRAM cache, so at some point there will be a huge drop in speed (we’re talking slower-than-7200 RPM HDD slow) which makes it completely useless for me. It’s also terrible for gaming. Instead of installing a game in 8 minutes, it can take up to an hour. Endurance if the SSD is lower

The Crucial P310 uses QLC flash, which has low durability and becomes noticeably slower after a few years. Gen3 would not make any difference in practice, but if you want a Gen4 drive, at least get a better drive with TLC flash like the Samsung 990 EVO Plus, Biwin Black Opal NV7400, Crucial T500, or

Yes, more memory will prevent swapping. And replacing the HDD with an SSD is worth it. But the 990 Pro is overkill; get a cheaper drive like the 990 EVO Plus or TeamGroup MP33, which have the same performance in your application. As far as I can see, the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1650 OC 4G has two HDMI

Running one stick of RAM forces you into single-channel mode, which will seriously bottleneck your CPU. Get 2x8GB instead if you're going for 16GB (or 2x16GB if you're willing to pay the extra for it). People are probably going to hate me for saying this, but in my opinion, the Samsung 990 EVO Plus

The 9600X is faster, cheaper, and uses less power. The RX 9070 XT is much faster than the RTX 5070 at almost the same price. The Advantage Pro-1 has DRAM cache and is a little bit faster than the 990 EVO Plus; get it if it is still available. The Noctua fans are good, but overkill. At the speeds at

I can’t find any brand new pcie 3.0 drives, the one other drive that I’ve found are pcie 4.0: p310 (£140) and 990 evo plus(£125). But these options don’t come with dram, which even with limited speeds, may provide better performance when running vms. So I’m still leaning more towards the t500.

Fair comparison between 8GB RAM and 32GB, when the prior comments were about 16GB and 24GB vs 32. Obviously 8 is going to struggle regardless of OS. Between my 990 evo plus and whatever silicon the Mac uses, only one of my operating systems takes 2 seconds for the start menu to show up, or for the c
