First Backpacking Trip! Plus Sized Edition

Sounds like a great backpacking trip. Always start with what you can do and you can do more next time. I graze along the trail (with snacks I bring, not on grasess) and hydrate frequently. Something like liquid IV or Nuun hydration tablets are good for adding electrolytes to your water.

Steve Kerr says that Kristaps Porzingis doesn't actually suffer from POTS

Up sodium intake and hydration, work to strengthen cardiovascular capabilities within the limits of chronic fatigue symptoms (don’t do too much at once or it will set you back). The best thing that has helped loved ones in my life who have POTS is to drink a World Health Organization oral rehydratio

Any runners on lithium? I start lithium tomorrow. But have a big mountain race in 9 days and am worried about side effects.

I'm on limictal and lithium. I run pretty regularly. Both road and trail. Also a lot hiking, backpacking, mountain stuff. Honestly, my performance has improved since being on meds. I think part of it was the depression was slowing me down before. As for the dehydration. It's always harder to rehydra

Feeling better after taking electrolytes!!!

I take a Nuun Sport Hydration tablet everyday, I find it a bit more potent and can tolerate the lemon/lime flavour for some reason (since I can’t go near an actual lemon or actual lime). Also Evian water makes me feel great and alert like I feel after an electrolyte tablet. I think it must be the sp

I’m starting to think my ‘panic attacks’ are adrenaline dumps

I relate to this a lot! I was having these symptoms as well, and especially waking in the middle of the night. Propranolol (a beta blocker) has helped me immensely. I have gone back and forth on taking it (because I have some side effects from it) but overall it’s about finding the right dose for yo

Funny story with some advice needed

I added electrolytes to my water bottle while I swim and my lower leg and foot cramps mostly went away. I like Nuun tablets but I’m sure Gatorade, or Liquid IV, or any other hydration product (Brawndo!) works just as well.

Any cycling tips for hot day ride?

Some commenters here are saying “It might just be too hot.” Which I guess I understand, but I personally love riding in hot weather and breaking a sweat, and it has to be REALLY hot for me to believe that hydration and electrolytes can’t get you through it. For a 90-95 degree day in the sun, I’d pla

Well it’s back up to 106°F outside, so let’s give the boys a nice cold snack! Sadly, Mojo is still having a bit of a rough day, so we did have to cut snack time short 😢

Do you supplement your water with any kind of electrolytes, even something as basic as drinking Gatorade? With that heat, I’d definitely recommend something. Replacing only water can leave you compromised in such heat. Liquid IV, LMNT, and Nuun are some popular brands, but really just about any bran

A good video about electrolytes from DrBerg

I do use his electrolyte powder and it’s great for the minimal ingredients. I have to alternate with Nuun daily hydration because Berg’s doesn’t have enough sodium for me (pots)

My 75 year old mother and her ileostomy/dehydration

I have an ileostomy and used to get dehydrated, but now manage it at home. The first step is to determine how much output she has and its consistency. If it is more than 1.5-2 litres per day and very watery, this would explain why she is getting dehydrated. Examining and measuring urine is also impo
