"Good buy" ? You mean "good performance at a good price" ? Yes. No. IMO the differences are minor. I don't have a knocker, but then, I don't want or need one. Nothing works better for clearing fines than bellows. Occasionally I remove the magnetically held chute and use the included brush to wipe th

Eureka Mignon Silenzio 55 is probably the best you'll get for $500 new, You might look for a used commercial grinder as they're faster, more reliable and put out good grinds.

Re Grinder: decide first if you want to Single Dose or use a Hopper instead. This choice divides grinders into two categories. People like hopper style because it's the easiest, with the least amount of fuss. People like Single Dosers because it allows them to keep their (expensive) beans away from

I only have heard about the gen 2 where they added a knocker to the chute, and I think they took away the magnetically removable chute in order to do this. Dunno what the 3rd gen diffs are. Personally, I don't want a knocker, as I can simply grab the chute and clean it and put it back. I like that.

The Breville Oracle is a brilliant idea spoiled by poor implementation. I struggled with ours for 4 years before I sold it. The integrated grinder, while easy and convenient with its auto-tamper, was subpar compared to almost any separate grinder. I replaced the Oracle with a Profitec HX machine and

The two sources for Errors and Omissions is design (materials, functionality) and assembly line inconsistencies (ie. you might get a "good" one or you might get a "bad" one). You can try to rule out assembly line inconsistencies by returning your unit and getting another (in the hope that it's far l

Love the DF83V. Turin has a weird naming scheme. The DF83V has little in common with the DF83 (except maybe the espresso burr set) - as it is a vertical-burr mount (horizontal body) and has an auger, variable RPM, and a much bigger, more powerful motor. I'm not sold on the variable RPM (yet?). Howev

Any reputable brand that makes dedicated grinders should be a massive upgrade - as long as you steer away from the Sage/Breville standalone grinder. Personally I made the switch to Eureka Mignon Silenzio. Day and night difference

Eureka Mignon Silenzio or Zero, Ceado C5, Mahlkonig X54, if you want long-term reliability and service ability, not to mention great grind quality, go with a legacy brand. All these new Chinese made grinders are slick, have cool features and can be well made. But, they've only been around ~3-5 years
