I only have heard about the gen 2 where they added a knocker to the chute, and I think they took away the magnetically removable chute in order to do this. Dunno what the 3rd gen diffs are. Have you considered a Turin DF83V ? It's a significant change from the DF83. I had a Eureka Mignon Silenzio which I found very competent, but then I had nothing to compare it to except the builtin grinder of a Breville. The only concern I've read about the DF64V is some are reporting that you have to use RDT. Dunno how that strikes you. It sounds like the gen 2 chute improvement is a big win. I read good things about Timemore. My bias is to only buy 64mm or 83mm because I can always try out different burrs later. D
