If/when apple released Apple Studio Display with a possible 120HZ refresh rate - your current Mac won't still support it
I know some folks are all about the refresh rate, but I pretty much bought the studio display so I could eliminate my desktop speakers and my OWC thunderbolt hub. I don't game, so the refresh rate is ok, and the overall image quality is beyond my expectations.

10 Years ago (Sept 2015) I made a post asking what would be the "one more thing" in Sept 2025. Let's see what people get right and wrong!
Here's my list. Assume typical annual improvements to battery life and performance across the board. MacBooks: Face ID integrated into the displays. Cellular chips (C1, C1X successors) and eSIMs integrated into MacBooks. Their own wireless chips (N1 successors) integrated into MacBooks. Those may bo

'A19 Pro' Chip Coming to Studio Display 2
A ruse to distinguish their displays, like the current Studio Display has an A13 processor and 64GB of storage for cropping a webcam feed lmao.

Mini M4 Pro - Every monitor seems like a downgrade from iMac 27" Retina
I got a used 27ā LG 5k for $400, the one that is an Apple Studio Display competitor and that isnāt a downgrade from your iMac monitor. Look around for used monitors that you can pickup in person and check the screen before you buy.

Apple unleashes M5, the next big leap in AI performance for Apple silicon
I want to point out the M5 macbook pro has only TB4, while the M4Pro/Max macbooks have TB5. This might affect you if you're planning to run 5k/6k@120hz displays which would require TB5. The rumoured studio display, if it does have 120hz, might require this (or a hacky 2x plug into the tb4 ports). Th

Appple Studio Display owners, is it really worth that high price?
I think it was the right choice for me, but I don't think it's worth the price. Or at least, I wouldn't list "bang per buck" as a feature. I wanted it because it reportedly used the same panel as my 5k imac, so I knew what I was getting. But the downside to that is that in 2025, we're still paying "

Report: Apple ānearingā mass production for M5 MacBook Pros and new Studio Display
I know a lot of people are focusing on Mini LED and 120 Hz (and rightfully so considering how much Apple will probably charge), but I do think the small quality of life improvements matter just as much. Some things I'd like to see: Removable power cable HDMI 2.1 port (unlikely) Multiple Thunderbolt

Apple Studio Display
Itās not great. The rumour is that weāll get a studio displayed 2 this year which is kind of corroborated by both Samsung and LG announcing 5K 27 inch panels this year presumably Apple might have pitted them against each other to make a panel so weāll see which one theyāve put in the next studio dis

Studio Display XDR owners, what are your opinions on the display?
I originally bought the base Studio Display, but returned it after a week, I just couldnāt get past the warmer, darker panel tone and the 60Hz refresh rate. As a UX engineer working daily in Sketch/Figma and Xcode, I need a display I can trust for the long haul. Iām planning to keep this for 8+ year
