On one hand, yes. On the other hand, apparently rumours say these will be A chips not M chips, and the M4 Mac Mini starts at 16gb ram where the budget laptops will probably be 8gb, so there seem to be tradeoffs there to make the build cheaper. Pricing at over $599 would be a bad move IMO

Open claw runs on a $70 raspberry pi. You don't need a Mac mini m4 for that. If you want to run 8b or 16b parameter LLM locally that's when you need a Mac mini m4 with descent RAM

If we want a full picture: Mac Mini reserves some RAM for the system so you should probably get 24gb versions at least. Best would be some 96gb or higher Mac Studio or smth like that. The higher M CPUs are worth it for local AI. The Tokens per Second they can produce are much better with Pro, Ultra

M4 Mac mini has crazy value for the price, you can get a silent device thats extremely power efficient with a m4 chip and 16gb of unified memory for £500, nothing at that price point can compete

Should I really get a new mac or use my m1 till its last breath?
Local llms need a lot of ram and storage so even if you get the latest Mac with low amount of ram also is a problem. If running proper local llms, I would advise getting a Mac mini m4 with minimum 32 gb of ram

No. Do not buy an 8GB RAM MacBook Neo for Logic Pro. But unless it has more than 16GB RAM do not buy Intel MacBook Pro either. If you plan to dual boot Windows for any reason…. Maybe. I would rather just buy a refurb Mac Mini M4 instead
