Headphones that sound like a HiFi?

Absolutely agree with this. My studio combo is Yamaha HS5 Monitors and Sony MDR-7506 monitor headphones. This combo is really unbiased and when I switch between them, the difference is small. If you mix using a particular HiFi then it will only sound great in that HiFi. every HiFi manufacturer build

Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?

Not much upper mids but rather highs and, well, middle mids (~1 kHz) https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?attachments/yamaha-hs5-studio-monitor-powered-speaker-cea-2034-spinorama-audio-measurements-png.46443/ And their FR is indeed quite flat but unlike both most monitors and consumer

Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?

Yes. But the HS5 does have a boost around 1khz. Which compared to a speaker (or headphone) which has a more neutral mid-range response could make them seem a bit shouty. And they're a little bit too flat. People tend to perceive speakers (even studio monitors) that have a little bit of tilt in the f

Struggling to achieve a professional vocal sound - Need advice

Monitoring is EVERYTHING when trying to get a pro sound. The first time I sat in front of my Neumann KH 120 II, moving from Yamaha HS5, I was blown away by how easy it was to find what I was looking for in my mixes. If you can’t get a polished sound, it’s usually because of masking. If you can’t fin

Best Setup for Documentary Edit

Spend less and save the rest to hire out for mix and color at the end? Mac Studio with at least 64gb of ram or any build from or based on Puget Systems if you want a pc. Don't overthink it, you just need a system that doesn't chug on playback and that's pretty easy these days. Some kind of raided st

focusrite speakers

Yamaha HS5’s are within budget and a nice sounding set of monitors. If he wants to later on, he could also add the matching Yamaha sub to them for more bass. I use their bigger brothers l, the HS8. Whilst neither the HS8 or HS5 is truly a ‘reference’ speaker (a speaker with a very flat response curv

What monitors should i buy? with a 500$ budget producing, mixing and mastering purpose

Since I’m getting downvoted I’ll write a better answer. The data is there, take a look at the port resonances and time domain performance of all of the speakers. At your budget , nothing is gonna be perfect of course, but the comparison is pretty drastic HS5: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum
