Get yourself a pair of powered monitors. Whatever fits your budget. Yamaha HS5 are a tried and true option, that's what I personally use.

I really like my Yamaha HS5's. I think at a certain point even though it is a "hobby" too cheap is too cheap and you will run into the same issues as you did with the Eris. The HS5's are about $150 each but they sound great and cover the frequency range of the guitar pretty well.
