Tempted to go from Focal shape 65 to Kali IN8V2, please talk me out of it guys

Fwiw, Sony replaced their 5k/ea Genelecs with Kali IN-8V2s in most of their audio post rooms this past year. Apparently the audio leadership couldn’t tell the difference between the Genelecs and the Kalis in a blind test. On a personal angle, I work in 3x Atmos rooms with Genelecs and have a Kali At

Neumann KH120 II underwhelming?

Studio monitors aren’t supposed to have a traditional “wow” effect. You didn’t clarify what you meant by that or what exactly were you underwhelmed about, so it sounds a bit like you might’ve expected a hifi speaker wow effect. Studio monitors are designed to sound neutral. They aren’t supposed to e

My Home Studio Setup- Hoping That One Day I'm Gonna Make It

So my mixes used to be muddy and I had hs5's before this monitors (LYD 7). When I purchased these it revealed the truth thanks to it's revealing low mid range. As I get used to them I realized that the top end sounds softer than I like so I calibrated it with sonarworks and they ended up with being

Laptop speakers have better transient response than monitors?

I think for the money if you’re looking for a replacement in your budget, the Kali Audio IN-8 v2s are your best option. Paper cone, 3 way speaker with really good transient response and a very detailed midrange which a lot of speakers in the budget tier are lacking. I work in an Audio Post facility

Personal experience here, nothing more: the Kalis are better than the Focals in terms of not hyping the highs, yes. You can see Klippel NFS measurements here. However, at a similar price point, you could grab a used pair of Neumann KH120As (the previous generation without DSP) and I think that's a b

Kali in 8 or Yamaha hs8

I have both. The Hs8s were my monitors for about 2 years. I needed them for my TV for a party and they never made it back to the studio so ended up with the IN8s for the studio. Both are good options. The Yamahas were a little bit more musical/better sounding. The Kalis are sterile/flat. Both can get

Which monitors to upgrade from Kali In-8's

Save up until you can afford ATC tier, or maybe KH310 or Adam S series, PMC, smaller Barefoot, PSI, Dutch and Dutch, etc. I heard someone saying on another thread how a major company was going to be using all Kali IN8 moving forward in their many post rooms over Genelec. (I can't verify this - it's
