Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?
Not much upper mids but rather highs and, well, middle mids (~1 kHz) https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?attachments/yamaha-hs5-studio-monitor-powered-speaker-cea-2034-spinorama-audio-measurements-png.46443/ And their FR is indeed quite flat but unlike both most monitors and consumer

Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?
Yes. But the HS5 does have a boost around 1khz. Which compared to a speaker (or headphone) which has a more neutral mid-range response could make them seem a bit shouty. And they're a little bit too flat. People tend to perceive speakers (even studio monitors) that have a little bit of tilt in the f

Stage Piano speakers
I recently bought a pair of Yamaha HS5 (they come in white, for interior design concerns) and have them sitting on the floor. They are on mounts I bought from Kanto: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YBNDD5W . The mounts are on the floor near my keyboard. (If you use the Kanto mount, be sure to get the r

It all depends on your budget! I mostly recommended these because they are only $119 for a pair. Monitor speakers can go up to the 5 figure mark for one each. Of course, those are only useful if you also have a fully acoustically optimized room. Yamaha has the HS5 and HS8. These also have a subwoofe

Studio Summary from a hobbiest
Hi, the Yamahas are very nice, but I would agree that the HS5's lack some bass. I bought that model mostly because of a) budget and b) small size of the room. On the most part I am happy with them. Someone else responded to provide some thoughts on using bigger ones and I have subsequently done some

Not an answer to your question about the Rokits differences, but I wouldn't really go for the Rokits myself. If you want 5" monitors I think there's multiple other monitors that might be much nicer, depending on what you're looking for in your monitors. Adam Audio T5V, Yamaha HS5, Presonus Studio 5,

Soon adding monitor stands, more acoustic treatment and Yamaha HS5
FWIW, you can do better than HS5's. All of the Yamaha's are rear ported, which means they want at least 1' of free space behind them, more if possible. Front ported monitors tend to work a lot better in small spaces.

Fender fr cabs
The IK micro monitors are specifically designed for being that small. All the other monitors that small or the 3" ones are complete junk. If you're going to buy something other than the IK micro monitors, don't buy anything under 5". You'll regret it later. I've already it twice and regretted it. Th

Depends on the size of your room but I would go with Yamaha hs5/7/8 instead of KRK.
