Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?

Not much upper mids but rather highs and, well, middle mids (~1 kHz) https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?attachments/yamaha-hs5-studio-monitor-powered-speaker-cea-2034-spinorama-audio-measurements-png.46443/ And their FR is indeed quite flat but unlike both most monitors and consumer

Why do people say Yamaha HS5 (or the entire HS series) is uncomfortable to listen to?

Yes. But the HS5 does have a boost around 1khz. Which compared to a speaker (or headphone) which has a more neutral mid-range response could make them seem a bit shouty. And they're a little bit too flat. People tend to perceive speakers (even studio monitors) that have a little bit of tilt in the f

I'm 90% there, what else can I get dialed in

They are the best i've heard under 600, definitely a little bit more balanced than something like a yamaha hs5 which tends to emphasize the mids a little bit more. I have a subwoofer as well but it's just for the really low end, the speakers have a surprising amount of low end

focusrite speakers

Yamaha HS5’s are within budget and a nice sounding set of monitors. If he wants to later on, he could also add the matching Yamaha sub to them for more bass. I use their bigger brothers l, the HS8. Whilst neither the HS8 or HS5 is truly a ‘reference’ speaker (a speaker with a very flat response curv

Anyway, sempet nyoba speaker Yamaha HS5, first time nyobain studio-level speaker gara-gara temen ada yg audio engineer. First impression: technically better tha

Finally done after six months

I heard Adam Audio's sound fantastic for their ribbon tweets! I was considering one myself back when I bought these 5yrs ago. Yes, to me they sound fantastic! Details are strong and they sound very natural. To my ears. As for accuracy, I don't really have anyway for measuring that. You can however "

Boss RC-600 Playback/Monitoring setup?

Sorry I missed that you already have monitors. The HS5’s seem particularly bass deficient to me so I get why that doesn’t work. I faced the same question 6 months ago when I set up a looping rig and started livestreaming on twitch. I use guitar, bass, drumset, synths, sample pad, drum machines, Rhod

Speaker/PA/Amp recommendation Korg Nautilus

UPDATE: the Nautilus has arrived and it’s a BEAST! As u/Amazing-Structure954 mentioned, I have had no issues getting the audio from the iPad to pass through the keyboard and out of the main speakers!!! The speakers are Yamaha HS5 and they sound great - a subwoofer would be a nice addition but not a

Constantly struggling to get the bass right in heavy music, any advice?

Measurements for the HS5 show very excessive midrange and treble (spiking up to +7dB) relative to the bass. I would struggle to use these without significant corrective EQ. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/yamaha-hs5-powered-monitor-review.10967/
