Absolutely agree with this. My studio combo is Yamaha HS5 Monitors and Sony MDR-7506 monitor headphones. This combo is really unbiased and when I switch between them, the difference is small. If you mix using a particular HiFi then it will only sound great in that HiFi. every HiFi manufacturer build

Not much upper mids but rather highs and, well, middle mids (~1 kHz) https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?attachments/yamaha-hs5-studio-monitor-powered-speaker-cea-2034-spinorama-audio-measurements-png.46443/ And their FR is indeed quite flat but unlike both most monitors and consumer

Yes. But the HS5 does have a boost around 1khz. Which compared to a speaker (or headphone) which has a more neutral mid-range response could make them seem a bit shouty. And they're a little bit too flat. People tend to perceive speakers (even studio monitors) that have a little bit of tilt in the f

Yamaha hs5 studio monitors. Solid price, great quality sound. Will work great for music also and can run or of your focusrite. Trust me you will be stoked and it will sound amazing. They’re about $550 Canadian for a pair so probably like $300usd lol

Lot of bass = big speakers. And these aren’t cheap. For learning you really don’t need a ton of bass. I think ur budget is pretty low tho. Lowest id probably recommend would be a pair of the Mackie 5 inch studio speakers (200 for a pair). You could also get a single Yamaha Hs5 (also like 200) and pl

Yamaha HS5’s are within budget and a nice sounding set of monitors. If he wants to later on, he could also add the matching Yamaha sub to them for more bass. I use their bigger brothers l, the HS8. Whilst neither the HS8 or HS5 is truly a ‘reference’ speaker (a speaker with a very flat response curv

Krk 5s are definitely better than the 40ds. I haven't used them personally but the yamaha hs5 are a solid choice and the equivalent from Mackies. Sick set up BTW.

Thats it, its not meant to sound fun, its meant to sound flat, and clear, you just have to get used to it. I remember buying my first Yamaha hs5 and thought they sound like trash because I was used to comercial speakers

This is not really the case. The Kalis are 80w and Yamaha 70w. Kalis have more broad frequency response and should not sound 40 percent lower in volume. They should actually sound fuller and louder than HS5s. I think its an attenuation issue with the controller. The HS5 are more sensitive but the Ka

Not an answer to your question about the Rokits differences, but I wouldn't really go for the Rokits myself. If you want 5" monitors I think there's multiple other monitors that might be much nicer, depending on what you're looking for in your monitors. Adam Audio T5V, Yamaha HS5, Presonus Studio 5,
