Are Ubiquiti APs Worth It?
I find the Ubiquiti APs that I have experience with (U6 Pro, U6 Mesh, and U7 In Wall) to be vastly superior to the Fios provided APs in terms of stability and consistency of high throughput. Vastly.

U6 Mesh melts
Normally, I would not expect them to. In the case of the U6 Mesh, there have been many, many documented cases of the same types of failures; water ingress from the top where the LED ring is and an electrical/component failure that results in the burn through hole like pictured. Some people got lucky

AC mesh pro still worth it??
honestly for 45 bucks it's not bad but you're spot on about EOL worries. ubiquiti still supports the AC line but they've been pushing wifi 6 hard. i grabbed a U6 Mesh instead last month and it's been solid with better future proofing. the AC Mesh Pro will probably lose major updates in a year or two

How to test performance of Unifi AP?
i feel you - bought a used u6 mesh once that acted the same. first run a wifi scan from the unifi controller to see if channel interference is the real issue. then factory reset it three times in a row (seriously, clears weird nvram leftovers). check the transmit power - sometimes used units get set

Anyone see a U6 mesh die like this?
i burned through 3 U6 Mesh things. They were ceiling mounted. I kept telling Ubiquiti they have a heat issue when upside down. As the one I had on my book case has been fine. But never had a burned in hole like that. They just stopped powering on and smelled of burned electronics. After the 3rd one

Is Ubiquiti still providing extended RMA for faulty U6 access points?
Good luck! They didn't do any extended warranties. A handful of people somehow got them replaced out of warranty, no rhyme or reason for it. I was not one of the lucky ones - 4 months out of warranty but only in service for a year.As you discovered, it's a known issue but Ubiquiti still has not owne

Extending Coverage to In-Ground Storm Shelter in Garage
honestly a storm shelter is tough because of the concrete. mesh from the garage will still struggle to penetrate. i'd run an ethernet cable into the shelter and mount a U6 Mesh or U6 Extender inside. the U6 Mesh is weather-rated so fine for a shelter. if you really can't run cable, try placing a U6

Wanting to switch but needing help with a solution
i'd go with the udr7 plus two u6 mesh units personally. the u6 mesh pros are designed exactly for shelf/table placement - that redbull can shape works great sitting out. the ux7s are nice but you lose some range without hardwire backhaul in mesh mode. for 2100 sq ft on two floors, udr7 on main floor

Looking for advice on a small multi-site deployment NLOS
ngl that's a solid setup idea. for NLOS at 300 yards with banners in the way, the Ubiquiti Building to Building Bridge would handle it - those things punch through clutter. pair it with a U6 Mesh at each tent for the wifi and ethernet ports. the dual base stations work great with EdgeRouter 12 for f

WiFi suddenly terrible
So I would first look at the modem/router that your internet company gave. It might be old. If you are renting from them, ask them to upgrade it. Then look at anything connected to the modem/router. If you have a mesh system connected you might need to upgrade to something newer. I’d recommend the U
