I’m looking for some big boy storage for my roms. Think everything I have now is about 7tb between multiple devices. Is this a good value/storage option moving forward? Seagate 22tb External HHD STKP22000400 $289. What do you use or recommend for storage?
I went from Synology to Unraid, and it's been great. (Synology had some drama where at one point they said people will need to use their branded more expensive drives and then walked it back). Since you said You have about 7TB I would plan to have around 14TB or more of storage to have enough space

Bad year for Synology users
So glad I sold my DS920 two months ago and upgraded to a Terramaster F6-424 running Unraid. FREEDOM!

MAC Mini as NAS
100% agree with this. Ran my M2 mini as a NAS with external Thunderbolt DAS array for a year. Ended up being more of a headache for running simple NAS tasks. Ended up buying a Terramaster F6-424 to replace it. Not the biggest fan of TOS, but any dedicated NAS OS will work better for your situation.

Unraid OS 7.2.1 Now Available
2x Terramaster (F4-424 Pro and F6-424 with lots of docker containers and running an array of all disks each) running on 7.14 almost flawlessly upgraded to 7.2.1. I only need to remove the /boot/config/dashboard_setting.json to get the dashboard to three columns.

**F4-424 MAX – Considering an OS Switch**
Y aho

F6-424 Software/Security Support
Unraid all the way. The Terramaster OS isnt that great. I have the F6-424 and the N95 cpu and 8GB of stock ram are just fine for Unraid. As for secure, you mean external access? Tailscale is your friend there. Don't open ports. Basically, the TM hardware is pretty good and the price of the F6 right

Just grabbed an F6-424 Max on sale! Any tips for a first-time NAS setup?
just set up a F6-424 MAX as well. One thing I would say is upgrade the memory asap. 8GB was not cutting it for simple things. I have setup a few docker containers; glances, homarr, scrutiny, beszel , dashdot and doublecommander for qol improvements, but then went to get going with immich and with th

Buying mini pc for proxmox.
love miniPCs, have several... but limited disk positions are not that great for building your media library. Unless you are really ready to accept that you cant really move beyond few TBs... And considering the price you are paying, you are getting awfully close to actually getting something with pl

Thinking about a NAS but concerned after my previous experience
you may still able to recover hdd if there no encryption on the raid 1 setup by getting external enclosure and install of the drive and use app like linux reader to drive Edit: I would not recommend getting Terramaster. I would suggest getting either synology or qnap. Both are more stable and mature
