What is Synology actually working on?

I agree with the enshittification. My RT6600ax covers less area than the RT2600ac it replaced. So a bit disappointed. That and the removal of features has me considering leaving the platform. My home experience led directly to my using them for my business use. We used to look for new vendors when t...

Looking for a recommendation for home use.

This. R650s are not cheap but well worth the money. Went from a Synology RT2600AC to two R650s (one at front, the other at the back) to cover a two story 2000sqft detached, and a basement. Lot size 40x115. Amazing coverage end to end.

Is there really no UPnP support in Qhora-322???

during the beginning of Covid, all my clients wanted to do remote access to the QNAP. Actually people wanted to do this just prior to Covid. At the time, QNAP was not making routers, and I was using the Synology RT2600ac router extensively. You would setup UPnP on both the RT2600 and on the QNAP, an...

I just can't contain my excitement

Chiming in here to say: It should be possible to use your own equipment, but I don't know that you'll get any support from them on the matter. I'm currently using the modem/router they provide as it was free and meets my needs, but a couple of months ago the first modem/router they gave me crapped o...

In light of the government's warning about TP-Link routers being compromised and all the other negative news about them, would use of a VPN or hardware firewall like Firewalla or Ubiquity do any good?

Try Synology RT2600ac or RT6600ax Router and add an external NVMe SSD to run their Threat Prevention App Add-on (Suricata IPS Based). Great router and firewall and IPS for the money and easy to manage. Gets daily updates for security. https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/compare/routers

VPN always on Synology?

I have a RT2600AC. It has a vpn package that will handle synology, standard and site-to-site vpns. No need to do anything on the NAS. It only has gig ports on it though. The RT6600AX has 2.5gb eth though and it will have similar if not the same packages. You want to do anything vpn on your router no...

RT2600 upgrade to SRM 1.3?

I upgraded my RT2600ac and MR2200ac to 1.3 last year and they ran smoothly. Recently upgraded to an RT6600ax though and much happier with it - the improved signal means I no longer need a mesh point to cover the whole house.

It's this one - https://www.amazon.com/Synology-RT2600ac-Prevention-management-expandable/dp/B01N5MPTG1 Built in parental controls (I've got 2 teenagers) was the main thing I wanted. It also has functions like scheduling connection cut-off and you can also do different levels of filtering for differ...

Did my nas just get fried by lightning?

Was the eth also going through the UPS? I recently had a hit that fried my cable modem and my rt2600ac. Eth for sure goes through UPS now. Got a DreamRouter7. Love it. Fuck Synology.
