4.7.2 finally available for GL-BE3600 Slate 7
For those that haven't checked recently, looks like 4.7.2 is finally out for the Slate 7. This is a 64-bit build, and includes the screen pin lock, as well as the ability to add/remove panes from the display. Also fixes my Wireguard and Tailscale speed issues.

Anyone else seen this device?
There are a few brands that use the same "shell" and possibly internals as the GL.iNet Slate AX. Where they differ is the Firmware running on them. But for that price.... um tell 'em they're dreaming...

adguard vpn is it worth it?
Their VPN app includes the excellent AdGuard Private DNS for free. They currently have a great deal if you buy AdGuard Family and AdGuard VPN. If you have already bought AdGuard Family, get the 5 year plan for AdGuard VPN (which also includes AdGuard Private DNS) and use code 'retail30' on checkout

Best Van Wifi Possible Solution
These travel routers are great. I got one for this very reason even though I do not have a van yet. I got the GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX). They get updated regularly and support for using VPNs and adblocking. There is a newer model than this that supports Wi-Fi 7 but it only has two ethernet ports

Cant work from home due to apartments shared network
This travel router is easy to setup to act as a wifi repeater or can act in bridge mode via hard wired connection. GL.iNet GL-AXT1800(Slate AX)... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B2J7WSDK From there it creates its own WiFi network you will join your devices to. From your landlord’s perspective it’s one

Is it generally okay to (quietly) work from inside a fast food lobby if you have bought a lot of food and the place is empty or not busy?
Nah I’ve done this from a brewery. Sometimes work is really slow and I’ll take off early and go somewhere else then of course, all of a sudden I’ll get a messaged with a question. I always bring my laptop around and I’ll go ahead and work from wherever I am. If it’s something I can just answer throu

Travel router for home
The Beryl AX supports faster WiFi speed than the Slate AX out of the box. But if you’re using WireGuard for VPN (a common use for travel routers), the Slate AX supports 550 Mbps max speed vs the 300 Mbps that the Beryl AX supports. So basically: if using vanilla WiFi, Beryl AX is better. If using VP

Seeking Suggestions - Cheap WiFi Router for Home Use?
Does your student dorm allow you to set up your own router using their network? That was not allowed when I was in college, and it's not worth having any issues with your university over WiFi speeds. If you place a router in your dorm room, you're going to have double NAT (bad for gaming) unless you

Is it possible to use a NAS in a dorm
I would recommend getting a travel router like a GL-iNet Beryl AX or even step up to the Slate 7 if you want wifi7. This will allow you to run your own network behind the college network so you have full control of your security. You can set it up with a VPN connection for remote access too.
