Ongoing Google Fiber WiFi Issues – Need Advice

I bought a Synology RT2600ac. Main attraction for that one was the built-in parental controls to keep my kids off the weird parts of the internet. It's a pretty nice router overall too. You can do a lot of cool stuff with it that most normal consumer routers can't/don't do. EDIT: Looks like it's not

Is there really no UPnP support in Qhora-322???

during the beginning of Covid, all my clients wanted to do remote access to the QNAP. Actually people wanted to do this just prior to Covid. At the time, QNAP was not making routers, and I was using the Synology RT2600ac router extensively. You would setup UPnP on both the RT2600 and on the QNAP, an

finally got google fiber

It's this one - https://www.amazon.com/Synology-RT2600ac-Prevention-management-expandable/dp/B01N5MPTG1 Built in parental controls (I've got 2 teenagers) was the main thing I wanted. It also has functions like scheduling connection cut-off and you can also do different levels of filtering for differ

Synology RT2600

Only you know if you "need" Wi-Fi 6, if so the non-6 Synology would be a poor option. In theory 6 coverage will be better than 5 but if you have 5 only devices (as some cameras are) then an extender might be a better option. OTOH the Synology has features that the Spectrum router does not provide. K

Shed WiFi Ethernet question

Not sure tbh.. I recently got a great synchronous full fibre deal that came with their router, so I repurposed my Synology RT2600ac as a wireless AP. If you have a decent old non-ISP locked router then you might be able to use that. Otherwise just go shopping and read reviews.. maybe someone else wh

Xfinity upload speeds in Naperville?

Synology setup, their older devices 2x RT2600ac and MR2200, good enough for home networking. Faster than needed. The main RT2600ac can be setup to use two providers and switch as needed (I run load balance 60:40 so it splits bandwidth between the two networks).

How to make sure a used Synology RT2600AC router is safe?

Do the full SRM reinstall rather than just a reset. On the RT2600ac, hold the Reset button about 10 seconds until the second beep to enter "Mode 2", then use Synology Web Assistant to reinstall SRM and set it up offline. Create a new admin username, delete the default "admin", and only then plug in

Newbie to Fiber Internet— what to expect?

I've been out of the 'consumer' router market for over a decade, last recommendation I was making to people was the Synology because the software package was above and beyond anything any other vendor was doing. You could use it to run a VPN, local file sharing, all sorts of packages thanks to Synol

TP Link Deco 1* ratings

I had an X55 trio, every time my Starlink downloaded a firmware update the main router would hang, had to reboot the whole network. Returned them. Then I got a trio of XE75 to see if they worked better, and though my Starlink didn't cause any hangs, devices just randomly go offline, my iMac, my MacB

Firewalla w/ Synology MR2200AC mesh

I have 2x Synology RT6600ax, 1x RT2600ac, and 1x MR2200 in my network with my Firewalla gold working as the router. One of the RT6600ax is the primary AP, and with that I have meshed the other RT6600ax and RT2600ac with wired backhaul and smart connect. The MR2200 is set up as a separate IOT 2.4 GHz
