Best way to keep local backup of iCloud storage?

I actually use 2 - I have a DS718+ and a DS920+. A little clarification from my comment might be needed. The Mac needs to be running to get backed up, but all the other cloud backups happen without any intervention from a computer. To set it up, a computer would be easier than a tablet, but it’s pro

Looking for a NAS for a Plex/Jellyfin server

I run Jellyfin on my Synology DS920+ NAS. IMO, only Synology's plus series of NAS devices (with a GPU) are suitable for a consumer grade Jellyfin server. Among the latest models, only the DS425+ has the GPU needed for Jellyfin hardware transcoding - - that's probably the NAS I'd get if I bought one

Beginner here - Synology sounds like an amazing ecosystem, but it also feels like a lot of people are jumping ship. Could someone offer insight?

Use any factory built NAS, strictly as a NAS and it'll be awesome. Synology specifically screwed their brethren by forcing the purchase of drives that are 2x the price of an identical drive from another manufacturer. Period. The NAS and OS are very nice and friendly. So. I'd still recommend Synology

After 15 years with Synology, the last 3 months in unraid been life changing

I started with Synology about 4 years ago with a 920+, it was great (and Synology still is) for a new user delving into the NAS world. It gave a relatively easy entry point for basic setup and overtime I moved into Docker and setting up more advanced things. However the lack of no full SSD / lower p

Goodbye Synology, hello Unraid!

Cool looking build! I made the same journey recently and am very happy. I still have my 920+ for a few things and as a backup for critical files on the unraid. I now run all my main apps and file serving from unraid and it works flawlessly. I think it's easier in some areas than the Synology.

Finally have Pi-hole & Unbound up and running. DNS issues are making me want to rip it out!

I've run mine on Synology (no Unbound) for years (920+ 20GB ram) in a debian VM (4cpu / 1gb ram) and have not had any issues. The only quirk is the vm takes a few minutes after a boot to come up. Good luck!

Immich beginner

I run my immich on a Synology NAS 920+ and works like a charm. Yes, the initial Machine Learning process took a very long time (several days) after my initial load, but after that, it's been running smoothly all the time. Everything loads fast.

Donc c'est sur le NAS, sur mon PC et sur le cloud. jusque là onedrive avec la promo 6 comptes 1To pour moins de

Immich makes my Synology DS224+ almost unusable during first backup (~32k files)

on the NAS: to the immich .env file add IMMICH_WORKERS_INCLUDE=api to the docker-compose.yml file under redis: add ports: - "6379:6379" under database: add ports: - "5433:5432" On the remote worker Mount the uploads and postgres directories to your filesystem to the immich .env file add DB_HOSTNAME=<N

Need help getting started (what to buy, etc)

A turnkey NAS like Synology or QNAP is much easier to configure and maintain than an DIY NAS running Unraid or TrueNAS. My Synology NAS is brain dead simple to configure and maintain, but the hardware is pricey. My Synology NAS model (DS920+) supports hardware transcoding. It works well with Plex, w
