I need a Plex overhaul

This ^^^ I moved Plex Media Server from a DS918+ to an i5-10500 Ubuntu PC a couple years ago. Best move ever. No problem transcoding, burning subtitles, etc. It is a bare metal installation, no 20+ containers. Just Plex Media Server and Tautulli via Snap. Plenty of headroom should I want to add anyt

Had no idea how small the Ugreen UPS was. 🤯

Yeah agree depending could be quite different run times.. But would be nice if they put up a curve on load, I mean I doubt the nas is going to draw 120W if its not really doing anything, etc. So from my napkin math should be able to get at least 20 minutes out of it I would think.. Not exactly sure

STUCK - New Proxmox & NUC 125H w only 2x M.2 NVMe Advice.

DS918+ can bond on those two 1G links. This way you spread those camera sessions out some. But yea, no 10G options, only 2 nics and not 4 like modern units..etc. what I might do is run the cameras to PVE's stack, and have a dedicated path to the DS918 and see what that does. If you exceed the networ

trying to figure out the best cloud storage for 2026, what do you actually use?

I avoid Synology Drive. I had an idea, where I’d separate my media from my backups, so I purchased a DS224+, populated it with 2x6TB Synology HAT-3300 drives (priced similarly to WD Red Plus at the time), and setup the NAS with Synology Drive, Synology Photos and HyperBackup. After setting up snapsh

Sonarr folder setup on Diskstation DSM

If you have the hardware for it, consider using docker and having a media stack set up for it. It's not super complicated and maintenance is quite simple for updating the containers. DSM network shares can be mounted inside containers with proper permissions with NFS. For the downloads (and media st

Transferring data across network ssh > SMB mounts

Is a GUI a hard requirement for this? Its hugely preferable for someone like me who isn't great with CLI. It also just makes it easier to manage files, filenames, folder structures etc using a GUI. I'm familiar with mv but rsync is new to me, i'll look into this. Thinking more, I could do media mana

Slow server, big library: will fragmenting help?

I’m in a similar situation to yours. I ran my Plex server on my DS918+ for many years but wished to upgrade to a processor that supported hardware transcoding for x265. I migrated my server to a beelink s12 running Ubuntu. It addresses the media files on my Synology by means of NFS—I’ve mounted the
