No. The difference is very small and any of the gen 5 ssds that are faster than gen 4, would probably overheat faster, making it actualyl a little slower. I got the samsung 990 pro 2tb for around 370 on amazon due to prime day, which is still really expensive, but it will probably last me around 7-1

Google this: “Highest TBW external SSD” TBW means terabytes written. It tells you how much data the SSD is rated to write before it is considered worn out. Higher TBW = better endurance on paper. You're absolutely right about everything. However is it just to save money on switching out the SSD? I keep reading how the Samsung 990 Pro is extremely reliable, and is great for the long run. I thought maybe that made it a premium SSD which is why it is pricey.
