Last sanity check before ordering a Framework 13 Pro for Fedora KDE—what mistakes should I avoid?
Verify RAM pricing first, possibly actually buy modules to lock in whatever cost you're considering as "acceptable". DDR5 5600 SO-DIMMs, when I've looked, are far from being "discounted" when you don't already own them. In that situation - Not already owning RAM/being able to get it (actually) cheap

Logging was wearing out my SSD
I have a lot of bluetooth devices and this, perhaps in combination with Home Assistant, was causing bluetoothd to write a lot to the ssd, wearing it out pretty fast, projected use time only a few years. Instead of actually solving it I got a datacenter SSD that survives writes a lot better and moved

Was playing cyberpunk then everything crashed....
That's not normal. I've had a sata Samsung 970 Evo for 6 years and I've been working it to death, constantly writing data on it because I compile stuff a lot and it's still working well and a sata Patriot ssd I don't remember the exact model of that's seen lighter usage, but still works fine after 3

ThinkPad T580 SSD compatibility (SC50Q58222 / 455.0CW02.0001)
Return the terrible BX500 and get a reputable M.2 NVMe ssd. Look for Samsungs 970 evo plus, 980, 990 evo plus for example. Sandisk/wd offerings are great too, just dont go with greens. Either Blue or Black series from Sandisk. T580 will run all ssds at up to 1800mbps, but with a bette drive random p

Do I remove these stickers?
that's fair. I peeled the sticker back on my samsung 980 pro 5 years ago and applied a thermal pad & heat sink directly to the ssd controller chip. it's been going strong since. i have good airflow in my case so it's probably not necessary, but still better than just the sticker by itself

Should I use a used NVME or a new but slower one?
980 at 100TBW is probably fine. If you only use one, I’d pick the Samsung and keep backups. Any reason you can’t run both?

NVMe drives and enclosure
I have no idea. But typically i would backup 2x then wipe as part of doing firmware. Apparently there is a generation of Samsung nvme 980, and 990 firmware that cuts the functional ssd lifespan to half. Which is why I commented.

Raise a glass to the golden years of MiniPCs 2023-2025 - What did you buy in that time?
With you on the UM773. Barebones, 32 Gb Kingston DDr5 and a 1tb Samsung 980. All in $550. Cooling fan later and it’s my desktop work daily driver. If I knew it wasn’t going to last, I would have gotten another more bougie one late 2025.

How can I make this cheaper but still high quality? !!! (First time builder)
Unless you plan on writing massive amounts of data you dont need a pro series SSD. I have my Samsung 980 for the last 5 years and have used 28TB/2000TB total writing cycles
