Home machines I fixed this past month (everyone owns a LM now)

Not op, but my Rancilio Silvia is about as close to the ship of thessius as it can. I don’t think there’s more than a couple of screws that’s original. So easy to fix, and it is reliable (despite having been fully rebuilt)

Owners of Lelit machines and/or Niche grinders:

Wait til you see the price of a Slayer, La Marzocco, Decent, Sanremo, Rockets, etc. But yeah, I started with a Rancilio Silvia & Sette (I got it wholesale from the cafe I was working at for $500 and $100 respectively) then rocked it for a decade and upgraded to the Micra and a philos. Get in where y

Descaling the boiler [rancilio silvia h2]

This is the first time I’m doing a restore. Honestly i was hoping this would’ve gone a little easier but the machine is in a much rougher state I anticipated. Apparently the rancilio silvia is know for rust under the drip tray and I hit the jackpot. The metal was completely rotted trough so I had to

I just killed my bambino plus in the dumbest way possible and would really like advice as to where to go from.

A used or even new rancilio Silvia is infinitely serviceable. I have an OG circa 2004 that was sitting in my garage for 20 years that I dusted off a year ago. With some basic maintenance it’s making multiple drinks a day now.

[Budget - $1500] - what's your "Toyota Tacoma" of espresso machines?

Gaggia Classic or Rancilio Silvia. Fellow is way too new to garner trust in longevity, let alone parts and community.

What's your ALL TIME Best Coffee Maker?

For filter coffee: Moccamaster are for life. Parents have theirs for over 20 years. They had to replace the caraffe 2 times. One caraffe fell and the other had a broken hinge, because they are clumsy and my father manhandles everything. He kept bending it in the most stupid way possible to remove th

First setup opinion/suggestions [$2000]

My first setup which was a eureka mignon grinder with a Rancilio Silvia. Both are 500-600 euro and work great with great longtivity. The extra’s you pick can be way cheaper.

Upgrading, deal on La Marzocco Mini too good to be true? [Under $1500]

Someone once offered me a Rancilio Silvia for $100. They said they are selling as-is and their ex-roomate left it and the seller didn’t know whether the machine worked or not. Now this was back when a new Silvia was in $700+ range. For me wasting $100 was not a big deal and getting a used machine fo

PID temp + pressure questions

It's odd. I've had my stock Rancilio Silvia for over 10 years and have never found the need for PID. Pull a blank shot. Light comes on. I wait. Light goes off. I pull the shot. Perfect every time. All the effort was dialing in my grind and roast.

Rancilio Silvia. Mine is 10 years old, no issues. Very simple, uncomplicated machine.
