I just did a little digging around and Petzl says it's safe to belay from the top with a Neox as with a Grigri. They just emphasize to keep a hand on the brake strand as always. I much prefer using my ATC guide for all top belays and rappels. It pretty much mitigates any possibility of an ABD gettin

Care to explain your disregard for Neox for multipitch? Petzl has sanctioned it for belay from above. I don’t know where the idea came from that it can’t be used for top manger systems, as it doesn’t appear to have come from Petzl.

Belay device recs
Skip Petzl’s products. Better camming products exist (Trango Vergo or Edelrid Pinch), so there’s no reason to consider a grigri family. Similarly, if the goal of the Neox is “tube style” simplicity, get a tube. Many brands offer semi auto locking (same class as Petzl’s products) without moving parts

What belay device should I get?
Edit: so you think that if I rap on a neox and take my hand off the rope im gonna hit the deck? That's unhinged. it will lock every time. You do you, but I wouldn't trust that it does. Petzl is quite clear about that one I think
