Would you still choose Lumix if starting today?

Yes, definitely. I've used other systems as well and always come back to using Lumix the most. I just love their ergonomics, aggressive pricing and menu system - I think the menu system is second best to Leica's. L mount lens selection is excellent now and is getting better every year, most 3rd part

I made expensive mistakes starting my freelance photo/video business. Here’s a no-nonsense guide for first-time buyers (from a 24yo freelancer)

I’m amazed You went through all that yet somehow didn’t consider panasonic which is undoubtably the best platform for video. Sony lacks open gate, has poor ibis and af is less important for pros. S5iix is what you need. XH2S is also one of the most capable hybrid cameras on the market in the right h

LUMIX S5III Speculation

I love my S5II, but the only thing that I can see wanting in the future is more resolution. I don't know what Lumix' sales are like, if there's enough to justify all s5 competing with the S1, or not. In my mind, the S1IIe is basically the updated S5II, they'll just need to drop the price a bit when

Fujifilm xh2s almost ruined my job

The AF-C bug in the latest firmware impacts two of my cameras. The silence from Fuji is deafening. I do this as a hobby. If I lose a shot, it sucks. But in your shoes I don't think I'd trust my livelihood or professional reputation to Fuji either when solutions like the Panasonic S5 II with built in

I feel reluctant to buy more L mount glass

The honest answer is…the z8 and z9 are better cameras for the wildlife purpose. Albeit they are very large. My S5ii and Sigma 150-600 came to around 2.5k..that’s less than one Nikon Z8. So I’d expect it to be the better camera. The sigma 150-600 is a nice lens, the autofocus is slow though. The zoom

Over-processed image of the S5iix / S1ii ?

By all accounts you can get a more organic image by shooting Pro-Res and Raw formats, but these come with huge file sizes. H264 and H265 file sizes are so much more reasonable for so many workflows - and I have also noticed the difference going from an S1 / S1H to an S5II. Up-voting this because its

Will Lumix and Leica ever make a rangefinder camera?

Both companies have put MFT on life support. I don’t want to say it’s impossible, but I do think it’s basically impossible. I expect Panasonic will only make large professional cameras, on MFT or FF, using the G9II/S5II body shape. They are clearly committing to that body for consistency in professi

Underrated Features

I think the biggest underrated feature that Lumix has that most others don't is an internal fan and you can count on it never overheating. On my s5ii I've gone 10+ hours at 4k60 10 bit 4:2:0 to two internal cards (switching them at times) and also HDMI out to a ninja v at the same time several times

Is S5 II worth it for general photography?

It’s totally worth it, you will love this camera. I’m a full time wedding videographer/photographer and S5ii are my main camera currently and I’ve been using LUMIX for 10 years. I’m upgrading to S1II soon!

Can't decide between SONY or Lumix

S5ii bro. Everybody here saying Sony but I truly could not be happier for my decision to go LUMIX. Like seriously I really could not recommend it enough. I freakin love that camera. I’d say rent both for a day or a weekend and try them out first. A worthwhile small investment for such a big decision
