M43 - Starter Kit - Criticism Please

Although I’m an OM user my impression is that you’ll be very happy with that setup but the G9ii isn’t that small. Both OM and Panasonic make significantly smaller bodies. I can’t advise you on Panasonic, but OM makes the OM-5ii which is beautifully small, has PDAF, and is weather sealed. I use the O

Any Lumix Cameras Around $2000 That are Just as Good, If Not Better Than The Sony FX30?

Disclosure: I own the G9 II and shoot on GH7's and FX30's for work. I'm gonna have some bias towards the Panasonic offering so take this with a grain of salt. The G9 II is probably the closest you can get in the Lumix lineup at a cheaper price point. It's currently on sale at Amazon for 1.6k body on

Birding camera recommendations

There are two options for "Not too heavy" and $2000: Canon R7 + RF 100-400: Low weight and good reach, but the lens isn't the brightest. Probably the best camera to fit your requirements. Sony A6700 + 70-350: Less reach than the Canon, but brighter. But unless you're in forests or other dim environm

Switching from FF to mFT

Lumix doesn't have better photo IQ, they may have been talking about its Video quality which panasonic cameras are renowned for. If you're trying to keep things small I'd recommend going with the OM-1 or OM-5 vs the G9II. The G9 is considered large by MFT standards and is even bigger than your Z7. H

Sigma 60-600 or Panasonic 100-500 for handheld wildlife

Panasonic S for wildlife doesn't make much sense to me, carrying 2-3Kg around its not the easiest. Makes more sense to get a G9 or G9II with the 100-300, 100-400, 200 2.8

What do I miss out on by going the OM-5 II vs the OM-3?

I rented the OM5ii for a weekend and was very impressed with it. ND filters, Pro Capture, hi-res mode, focus stacking...... what more could you want? It has most everything you could need and nothing you don't. I was very impressed with the image quality and color science. I usually shoot with the P

Camera recommendations? Beginner

The OM 100-400 II is actually only barely lighter than the Tamron 50-400 and Sigma 100-400 (both very similar in specs to the OM). Of course, the 20MP MFT sensor of the OM-1 still squeezes more reach out of 400mm than the 26MP APS-C sensor of the A6700 (Fuji's 40MP sensor actually beats the OM-1 on

M43 - Starter Kit - Criticism Please

That would be a great setup; I have the same camera and zoom lens and use it for similar things. It is not small or light, but the equivalent Olympus (OM-1) is not small or light either. The OM-5 is noticeably smaller and lighter, but not in the same class as the G9II. The Panasonic G97 is closer in

PetaPixel and Emily from Micro Four Nerds on how to save Micro Four Thirds - the manufacturers only make large premium cameras and are afraid to make a small one that isn't plastic and chintzy

I have a g9ii, Panasonic releases essentially it in a smaller form factor I'm in, I'm getting it.

Ouch there definitely is some people who dont like m43😅

I can only refer to the lenses I've used and what ive looked up so I'll try my best to summarize. Also, I thought your original position was that there are an even greater amount of e-mount lenses, which i believe to be true. However here's my quick summary and comparison to some other platforms.
