Panasonic I beg you we need an updated GM1

You understand that as soon you add IBIS it will no longer be a “GM1 markll”… not even a “GM5 markII”. It needs to be thicker. In the dream land (Panasonic as any other company is ruled by their finances and bets that have profit) I would prefer them to make the possibly smallest IBIS+PDAF camera wi

Birding camera recommendations

There are two options for "Not too heavy" and $2000: Canon R7 + RF 100-400: Low weight and good reach, but the lens isn't the brightest. Probably the best camera to fit your requirements. Sony A6700 + 70-350: Less reach than the Canon, but brighter. But unless you're in forests or other dim environm

I got caught in the L10 hype but ended up buying an S9 instead

We are both hybrid shooters so video is pretty important. And I just got done shooting an event with my G9ii and the 50-200 and got tripod/monopod like shots at 600mm full frame equivalent with crop zoom handheld thanks to IBIS. I think a lot of the target audience who mostly want a travel photograp

What do I miss out on by going the OM-5 II vs the OM-3?

I rented the OM5ii for a weekend and was very impressed with it. ND filters, Pro Capture, hi-res mode, focus stacking...... what more could you want? It has most everything you could need and nothing you don't. I was very impressed with the image quality and color science. I usually shoot with the P

Is there something better than Lumix GX85 in the similar price range and size?

You have conflicting priorities. In a lot of ways most phones are better than a GX85 for video - autofocus, formats, etc. GX85 has very outdated autofocus technology and video formats. I cannot describe it as “good”. I describe Panasonic G9 as “OK” and Panasonic G9II as “good”. Phones are on G9II le

L10 size vs Pen F

GX7 was a great size except it needed a better thumb placement tab and GX85/9 were the successor. Not sure why Panasonic doesn’t put out a GX10, since they have the body already. It seems corporate has decided that the photography unit has to use one body for M4/3 and FF. The G9II body isn’t as nice

From Lumix to Canon to... Lumix again?

Panasonic cameras have really good ergonomics and features. And they don't cripple any features either. Like canon. I agree the G7 is a fun little camera just wish the autofocus was better. And low light performance. Which you will get with the g9, the g9ii, and of course with full frame.

Photo first, should I get it?

The menu systems are very similar, the GH5 basically has additional video options so there's mroe on the screen. I have both, and they both have excellent physical controls so I rarely spend time in the menus. For the G9, I set my preferred format and image size (I usually do raw+jpg in highest qual

Bigger grip: Olympus E-M1 or Panasonic G9?

Thanks for the solid response. I was leaning towards the G9 myself because it seems it has a slightly larger grip, but your point about an intuitive menu system is valuable. Fuji's menu system was really confusing at times. Do you have any strong feelings on G9 MI vs MII? I'm not a pro photographer
