What is it with Nikon and Social Media

The D850 is widely regarded as the best DSLR ever made, I have never seen any hate towards that. Nikon was very late to bring out anything good for video (the Z6iii and ZR being the exception) whereas Canon filled that space a long time ago. This is no longer the case, but the reputation will persis

ZR sounds no brainer but…

All of these are valid concerns and ones I agree with, but Nikon specifically released this camera at $2200 to start to take this corner of the market, so you’re just not going to get everything right off the bat. This is an absurd price point for a camera of this quality, so compromises will inevit

Ready for FX5?

Seriously: Who cares about raw? It’s a format that makes sense if you shooting with a bigger production. But a fx5 / Nikon ZR / Blackmagic is not a camera I would choose for a more serious production anyway This small cameras are for small crew, run and gun, and I don’t want to think about the file

My first week with the Nikon Z6III

Quick note since many of your points are video recording specific: Likely in a bid to split the capabilities of cameras, Nikon also made the ZR, which is basically a Z6iii with no viewfinder and some shaving off of camera features in exchange for loads of video specific features, including 3D LUT. The ZR booted up like, ‘bro, what is this?’

Loving it so far. I actually sold my Z8 for the ZR. I was using the Z8 mostly for video, and the ZR just makes more sense for that. It is smaller, lighter, and I don't think I'll be using my Camera Monitor anymore (Beautiful 4 inch screen). I won't miss the bulk at all, especially for handheld or gi

Switched From Canon To Nikon, I think I made the right choice.

"....looking on upgrading to the Nikon Z6ii or Z5ii next year." The Z6II will not feel like much of an upgrade. When you do get around to upgrading, don't bother with anything other than an EXPEED 7 body - they are an order of magnitude better in the AF department. Currently that means a Z50II, Z5II

Upgrading camera for freelance video work: FX3, Nikon ZR, or stretch for the new FX5?

Not sure if you have ever heard this piece of advice, but know that it is the only piece of advice you ever really need when considering new gear: buy the tools you need right now. So, write down a list of things you need currently out of a camera. Try not to be swayed by specs that you know may exi

FX5 Thoughts?!?

Meanwhile Nikon ZR users constantly complain about the file sizes of RAW. With the cost of data storage today, I'd much rather have compressed RAW then a full day shoot requiring 7tb's of hard drive space.

Nikon Agrees to Acquire Viltrox After Lawsuit

Ok, this was a good one. Nicely done. I can see it now: Nikon introduces the Viltrox Red, the world's first sub $100 cinema camera. This follows the smashing success of the ZR-V, the world's first cinema camera with an integrated vertical sensor.

Z5II or Z6III

Agree with u/RudeWolf. Of the two, the Z6iii wins hands down. Also, if you just want video, perhaps consider the Zr. It is not my thing, but for a video centric Nikon in a reasonable price range you may want to have a look.
