I have both of these cameras. Here are my observations (assuming you shoot RAW): For birds, planes, and generally small far-away things, even with the 180-600, I love having the extra resolution the Z8 gives. The Z6 III does not (yet) have a dedicated bird detect mode, but that is coming this year:

Seeing is believing. Take a look at it at various ISOs against other cameras. https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison?attr18=lowlight&attr13_0=nikon_z6ii&attr13_1=nikon_z8&attr13_2=nikon_z7ii&attr13_3=sony_a7iv&attr15_0=raw&attr15_1=raw&attr15_2=raw&attr15_3=raw&attr16_0=25600&attr16_1=25600&attr16_2=25

I have both and have traveled internationally with both. They’re pretty much equivalent. I would make the decision based on the camera or other lenses you would bring. The 12-100 is very special, but so is the Nikon 24-120. If you’re going to be taking more photos in low light, a Z5 II is much more

To clarify- the Z FX models all have the same sensor size. Z7/8/9 have 45 megapixel sensors and Z5/6 have 24 megapixels. The lower resolution models, except the original Z5 because it has an older sensor design, actually test better than the higher MP models in terms of noise performance. However, a

I have both, although the OM1 is mk I. Not for wildlife but anything else. Bought the Z5 II for indoor shoots with bad light. Use the OM1 almost exclusively. It is faster, feels better, ergonomics are better, more buttons. Don’t mention smaller lenses. And I am saying this as an old Nikon user (FM,

I’m on the side that the Nikon Zf’s exposure control method is better than Fujifilm’s X-T series cameras. Fujifilm is geared towards a user that wants to have to turn dials every time, all the time. On the Zf, I like being able to sit in Aperture Priority until I need a specific shutter speed; in wh

I have OM-5 and bunch of lenses including 20mm f/1.4 pro. I also have Z5 II and 3 lenses including 40mm f/2. The Olympus lens is very well built and has terrific weathersealing. I don't hesitate taking it out in any weather. The 40mm on the other hand feels fragile though it too is said to have some

I think I would echo the other comments that you probably will not see a big improvement with the Z5ii + 24-50 kit and 28-400 over the Z50 and 16-50 + 50-250. The Z5ii does have some good advantages, namely that IBIS expands the exposure decision space, e.g. you can handhold 1/2s exposures with the

My friend you're making a 2021 argument. And while Sony is fantastic and Canon is amazing, Nikon absolutely leapfrogged everyone including Canon's EOS R6 Mark II & R8. The Brains: The Z5 II uses the EXPEED 7 processor (from the flagship Z9). It handles 120 AF calculations per second and has 9-type s

I am an old pro. 50 years a photographer this year. I currently have a gfx and just bought a z5II. I have shot with every camera system and format in both analog and digital. I chose the z5 II not because of my age but out of curiosity. ISO 12500 with such low noise levels? Paradise! Under $2K? We o
