FreeBSD as edge router with pf, VNET jails, and bhyve — single server or mini PC cluster?
For context, I currently have a 64 GB/5TB SSD UM790 Pro and a 96 GB RAM/5TB MS-A2, both Minisforum. I also use Python virtual environments, FreeBSD jails and bhyve VMs on these systems. The MS-A2 can be powered on remotely when I need additional CPU/RAM capacity. I’m considering the power/performanc

Best QUIET MiniPC under $500?
Nothing is as quiet as those. I think it’s the arm technology versus x86. I think the Beelink SER8 with the 8845 is quiet and Minisforum UM890 Pro as well.

NAD9 won't boot
Ah you got 64GB, I now have 32GB Corsair DDR5 5600mhz CL20 i think. Well that’s good your back up but you have warranty on the RAM I assume or is it what came with the NAD9? I think i9-12900H can support higher than 3200 DDR4 in other PCs but not sure. If you need 64GB, if it’s 100% module or bay co

Why did you buy a minipc?
I had an extremely powerful desktop that I simply was not making use of. Mini PC has all the speed I need, way less power hungry, and much less fan noise. Also my AIO was about ready for replacing and god a lot of them have gotten expensive. Using a Minisforum UM890 Pro. It had some hiccups at launc

Mini-PC Recommendation - Minisforum UM890 pro vs alternatives
Even though all the above negativities about Minisforum is true, I must say I'm very happy with my UM890 Pro/Deg1. Been running them 24/7 for over a year now with no problems at all, besides the poor bluetooth signal. Sitting 2,5m away from it and had a lot of issues with my bluetooth mouse. Could h

[UM890 Pro] BIOS 1.06 = higher fan speeds! (noise)
The way you describe it, the fan must be faulty. There's no way a normal fan would be this loud. Maybe replacement would do it. https://www.cdrtd.com/products/replacement-mini-pc-cpu-fan-for-minisforum-um890-pro-dc12v-0-5a-new.html
