Minisforum support is useless – need PLP NVMe recommendations for Proxmox ZFS mirror on MS-A2

I have used the Micron 7400 Max 2280 and Micron 7450 Pro in 2280 format. Excellent drives but not suitable for this form factor. Cautionary note: these drives run EXTREMELY HOT as they are designed for server airflow and power envelopes. These drives will not fare well in the closed environment of t

Using an eGPU with MiniSForum MS-A2 & RTX 4060

No problem glad I can help. Yes officially the MS-A1 supports up to 5200MHz RAM, but you can overclock via the BIOS. The BIOS menu, especially around setting the RAM timings is odd - you set the timings via hex values, rather than the actual straight numbering. I'm using Kingston Fury Impact RAM. 2x

Custom Case for Minisforum MS-A1 with Noctua cooler

Just ordered used MS-A1 and planning to print this all out to fit NH-L9i, this sounds and looks great! Thanks a lot! I think it also worth to combine this solution with the custom NVMe fan on the back - this another soluion, for those who would use this machine as NAS, that way the NVMe drives also

$400 Mini that works with m2 Oculink adapter

I can absolutely recommend DeskMini x600/USB4 (or without USB4 as well). see my post . I would like to say, that I've initially got MS-A1, with the 8700G inside. I did not like the noise level of CPU fan, even for the most basic tasks, copying files or browsing. I mean, those fan is ridiculously sma

First home server/N6 build

I like multi purpose because I have a nice space to place a server but it’s essentially a closet. I also don’t tinker a ton. once I have things set up I leave it alone and use it basically. I tossed around the idea of the minisforum n5 ( standard) + an ms-a1 or a2 w/ oculink for an egpu. That would

MS-A1 + 9800X3D + Oculink experience

Effectively what you have is an expensive deconstructed ITX desktop that takes up MORE desk space, but with poorer cooling and CPU power limits imposed by the small form factor chassis along with the inherent downsides of Oculink as a display connection technology. I'm a fan of the MS-A1 on it's own

Are mini PCs good for hosting heavily modded Mc servers?

Minisfourm ms-01 (Intel)/ ms-a1 (amd) are both similar and likely more expensive. while still being a small device I believe they would offer significantly better cooling and longevity. I acquired mine used/refurbished off eBay for significantly less than a new machine as well.

9950x3D in the Minisforum Ms-A1 + and 9070xt over occulink

Ok I got my eGPU in finally, the Morefine G1 with the 4090m connected to the MS-A1 via the oculink, the 9950X3D dropped temp to more manageable 60 degrees C. So relieving the iGPU of the X3D does help big time, dropping 20 degrees! And the PQ improvement was a huge suprise. I knew the iGPU will prov

People with Minisforum MS-01 or MS-A1 Mini PCs, how has it been?

On MS-A1 it is fine to me the fan level (in the BIOS setting I have it on Performance for the fan). Note I have it connected to my living room TV and while playing steam games I do not hear it from my coach. Only hear it when Benchmarking like Cinebench R23 or Heaven.

Adding a 120mm fan to Minisforum MS-A1

I just got one bought this and flipped the ms-a1 upside down. It’s elevated about an inch but it’s reduced temps 10+ degrees or more depending what the workload is. I’m using a 9800x3d.
