Minisforum MS-S1 MAX Review

I'm still annoyed at how Minisforum names these MS-XX units. They don't have any continuity. MS-01: Intel, mobile CPU MS-A1: AMD, desktop CPU MS-A2: AMD, mobile CPU MS-S1: AMD, mobile CPU, AI Why was MS-A2 using a mobile CPU? Wouldn't it have been better if they named it something else and kept MS-A

Minisforum AI X1 pro with DEG1 Docking station with 5080 what's your take on it?

It looks like you're aiming for a high-end eGPU setup, and there are some important considerations to make—starting with the GPU choice. The RTX 5080, while offering solid base performance, feels underwhelming for its price. With only 16GB of VRAM, its long-term value is questionable, especially whe

5200mhz DDR5

People just chase bigger numbers I have 4800MT. It’s running at 6000mt without much effort. It’s in a minisforum ms-a1. Stable I can’t imagine if I paid the extra money just to end up in the same place.

Anyone have experience with these? Are they any good?

This is exactly what I was going for. I initially had the atomman g7 but the 7600m was just to weak so i was going to get the new one which imo is better than these because its a laptop 4070/5070 vs desktop 5060 which is also upgradeable for less money…..I sold the G7 and the g1 kept being sold out…

Gaming laptop died. BSOD. Want to reuse SODIM and SSD - opinion and feedback please

You almost had it but ms-a1 yes you need a desktop cpu or you get the one that comes with 8700g. The A1 also has oculink so the sky is the limit after that. I just did a build with left over ssd, nvme, psu. Grabbed used 9800x3d and 9070xt with the deg being $100. $1300 and I have beast of a machine

MS-A1 + 9800X3D + Oculink experience

Effectively what you have is an expensive deconstructed ITX desktop that takes up MORE desk space, but with poorer cooling and CPU power limits imposed by the small form factor chassis along with the inherent downsides of Oculink as a display connection technology. I'm a fan of the MS-A1 on it's own

Best value mini pc with ryzen 9?

I have recently purchased a Minisforum ms-a1 with 9950x, 64GB, 1TB version. Here in the EU the cost was 1219 euros on Amazon. I exclusively use it for dev work ( Rustlang mostly), with Fedora and it just works. This is after about 3 months of using it. You can also have a look at MS-A2, read good re

Alternative to MS-A1

Barebone mini PCs where you can put your own desktop grade CPU are very rare. I have the aforementioned MS-A1 and it's pretty good. Alas, stock is dwindling here in Japan as well... If you're not interested in OCuLink, you may also find the ASRock DeskMini X600 interesting. I have two DeskMini X300

People with Minisforum MS-01 or MS-A1 Mini PCs, how has it been?

I purchased the barebone version of the MS-A1 during Prime week event, 64x2gb laptop memory sticks 5600 speed, 1x 4tb M.2 Gen 4x4 and the AMD 9950x3d. Had it running a week now. I like it. Waiting for my egpu to come in to plug into the Oculink and see how it runs playing games. Been using the inter

Advice needed please!

Build a nice PC for PC use, and buy a separate cheap mini PC for staking use. Something like the Minisforum MS-A1 with 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD should cost around $700 all in. You do not want gaming or rebooting to be a source of staking downtime. Keep them separate.
