Alternative to MS-A1

There's only a handful of AM5 minis out there: Lenovo's M75q Gen 5, Minisforum's MS-A1 and Asrock's Deskmeet X600, Deskmini X600 and Deskmini X600/USB4. The Deskmeet has a x16 PCIe slot and is really more of an SFF unit at 8L. The Deskmini X600/USB4 has USB4 replacing the VGA of the X600 at the back

I want to replace my current PC with mini PC + Oculink dock - does it make any sense in my usecase?

I have a Minisforum MS-A1 with a Ryzen 7 8700G with an AOOSTAR AG01 dock, and I rotate between various GPUs, including an RX9070XT, and it works wonders. There's a small bandwidth penalty when using OCuLink, but most games are not bandwidth limited. At worst, loading times can be slightly longer, bu

Anyone have experience with these? Are they any good?

This is exactly what I was going for. I initially had the atomman g7 but the 7600m was just to weak so i was going to get the new one which imo is better than these because its a laptop 4070/5070 vs desktop 5060 which is also upgradeable for less money…..I sold the G7 and the g1 kept being sold out…

Using an eGPU with MiniSForum MS-A2 & RTX 4060

Hi, within the last couple of weeks I've upgraded to a 9070XT from the 3080Ti, as I wanted to get ahead of potential GPU price increases. The rest of my setup is the same (MS-A1, 8700g, 64GB DDR5 @ 6000MHz) In terms of performance, the impact of running the GPU at gen4 PCIe x4 (via oculink to the DE

People with Minisforum MS-01 or MS-A1 Mini PCs, how has it been?

I purchased the barebone version of the MS-A1 during Prime week event, 64x2gb laptop memory sticks 5600 speed, 1x 4tb M.2 Gen 4x4 and the AMD 9950x3d. Had it running a week now. I like it. Waiting for my egpu to come in to plug into the Oculink and see how it runs playing games. Been using the inter

Build my first minilab cluster with 10Gb networking

Are you able to enable Wake On Lan or Restore power after failure ? I can’t set this with my MS-A1 🫤 Very unconfortable for a server, otherwise great machine 😮

SOHO File/Web/DB Server

Yeah that can be quite difficult. The Minisforum MS-S1 Max has dual 10Gbit and the Ryzen 9 AI Max+ 395. If you're comfortable building a SFF system yourself, the Minisforum BD790i X3D motherboard has a PCIe slot that'll allow you to fit any networking card you like. You may also want to check out th

So does the MS-S1 MAX work with OCuLink eGPU?

The GPUs I want to use don't fit in the provided slot, and the PSU doesn't have enough power, let alone power cables to drive the GPUs I'm planning to use. I'm not thinking of putting a super low end, bus powered low profile GPU. That makes zero sense with the iGPU. I want to put high end triple slo

While GitHub Actions remains a key part of this vision, we are allocating resources towards other areas ...

Thanks! I've run FreeBSD on a dedicated system for a decade, after previously running Linux. This was a new system bought specifically for this purpose, and as a replacement for the old system. I didn't spent too much time worrying about hardware compatibility, but I did check the basics would work.

Lenovo ThinkCentre M920x worth it in 2025, or better to go GMKtec / Beelink?

You already explored business oriented type (ThinkCentre) Mini, I will skip that part. Since you don't need 2.5" / 3.5"SATA and great GPU performance, that's a good fit for for cube size Mini PC which predominantly what this sub is about. You can get an AMD 7940HS / 8845HS Mini PC, easily double the
