MacBook v Framework are definitely opposing philosophies. However, I will say that the build quality issues of the Framework 13 that were rightly called out in the early videos have been resolved. Chassis stiffness and hinges are improved, although honestly I have both an original and newer Framewor

This shift for Lenovo (and many other companies) came around 2013 or so. That seemed to be around when Intel started to heavily discourage laptop manfactureres from making medium performance laptops with upgradable M series CPUs in favour of thin and light laptops with Intel's U series ultrabook CPU

Love the T440p more than any other thinkpad, literally the best model lenovo ever made. You should get at least a 65W charger for this thing to work properly, it has a power hungry CPU and it really needs it. Very unlikely to be a faulty motherboard.

"Ivy Bridge (3rd Gen Intel) — last generation with easy CPU socketing (PGA) in this form factor" Fourth gen models (Haswell) like the L440/L540, T440p/T540p, W540/W541 and Y510p were the last of the socketed systems. To be honest, I'm more worried about how W11 will run than the VMs. I used to run VMs on my T410 around five years ago and it was mostly fine. If you're buying a new T470 for this, though, definitely get something quad-core at least, preferably six-core. A T440p can be had for $150 and then you can

Hate is justified for the clunkpad - not because it's a bad trackpad, but because it was Lenovo's first salvo of attacks on Trackpoint users - the people who's loyalty kept ThinkPad relevant in the era of ever more svelte Apple hardware knockoffs. The x9 is the 3rd salvo in the war against the nub.

There is no such thing as a ThinkPad Ideapad, just Lenovo Ideapad which is not a ThinkPad. Even my Lenovo ThinkPad T440p i5-4200M with 8GB was able to handle Fedora since 2015. Read my recommendation again.

Okay, you know what you're talking about and I retract my previous statement (though I still assert that two root hubs presented to the software is absolutely the norm in every laptop I've used or fixed in the past 15 years). I know the vast majority of this already - my CSci specialism was in compu

Yes, everything is still correct except for that the world has moved on, technology has progressed and Renoir-based Ryzen ThinkPads such as the base 4500U E14 are more efficient and greatly outperform a decked out T440p at a similar cost should be replaced with "Thinkpads with the 6th Gen Ryzen and
