ThinkPad. Go for the T series. It will cost you more. But its longevity and upgradeability will save you even more. My T430 lasted 12 years. It didn't even break down. I sold it off real cheap to a student in need.

Lenovo ThinkPad. Go for the T series, like the T14. General purpose, very reliable and durable. I bought a T430s in 2012. It worked well for the 12 years I had it. I gave it away last year to a student in need. It still worked very well for basic tasks. I only had to change the battery, which was mo

The E6x30 Latitudes were great machines, and I hazard they were better than the contemporary ThinkPad: keyboard was almost as good as the ThinkPad X220/T420 (and better than the T430/X230), a few of them had a decent pointing stick, they were easier to repair, didn't have BIOS whitelists and they so

The T430 can be keyboard swapped with the T420 which makes the T430 one of the highest you can go with classic keyboard, that's why this sub simps the T430. Going higher is significantly more expensive: You can buy the ThinkPad 25 You can make a T480-ThinkPad 25 Frankenpad You can buy an 51nb mother

I bought the T480 at release time. If you’ve used ThinkPads and Intel in general, you’ll see that features come in cycles. When I saw the T480 I knew this is the one that will replace the beloved but aging T430 and will be loved for years to come. I now have a T14 Gen 5 and it’s better than the T480

"Am I losing a lot compared to the regular T430" The main thing you lose is the ability to upgrade the CPU because the CPU in a T430s is soldered whereas in a regular T430 it's socketed and can be upgraded. The only thing you really gain in a T430s is a slightly lighter weighing laptop (1 pound less

I've seen many comments here saying the T480 is "overrated," either because of comments like "the ultimate ThinkPad" or things like that, but I think it's more the consumer/seller's fault for using that to downplay the machine's true advantages (2 physical RAM modules, 2 SSD slots, upgradeability, e
