The T480 can handle most of the tasks you have mentioned although I highly doubt League of Legends could run well on hardware this old. Hell, I once used a ThinkPad T420 to play Roblox without issues on the other hand although that was 7 - 8 years ago now, when the T480 was new therefore the game li

You can dual-boot Windows and Linux if you want. I'd upgrade the RAM though, 6GB will disappear very quickly in Windows. If you have the discrete graphics, you can force discrete graphics in the BIOS and get more performance (or rather, avoid cooking the CPU when videoconferencing) but the downside

This shift for Lenovo (and many other companies) came around 2013 or so. That seemed to be around when Intel started to heavily discourage laptop manfactureres from making medium performance laptops with upgradable M series CPUs in favour of thin and light laptops with Intel's U series ultrabook CPU

It's another "legendary", "last" thinkpad. In few years, one of the T14/P14s with ryzen will be the "last good one". I myself went from R61, having access to my Friend's T430, T470, moms T480s, friend's T14 gen 1 to now my P14s Gen 4 amd. I fully think my current thinkpad is the best one I've had an

"upgrade my ram to 16 GB (32 if i am dedicated enough)" You can upgrade it to 16GB (2x8GB) but 32GB (2x16GB) isn't happening nor has anyone been able to get a kit like that to work on a system older than 5th gen aka Broadwell. Given you have a dGPU I would advise sticking with an i7-3632QM. "Can i o

"The stick ler on the card says ddr3 (instead of ddr3l) but the listing and the rest of the specs read as they should." It shows 1.35V on the sticker which means it is DDR3L. "I tried updating the BIOS, but of course that did nothing. Any suggestions?" The kit is either DOA or bogus / fake so try to

For storage any 2.5" SSD should work and you can install a second SSD by using the mSATA slot. The latter was limited by Lenovo to Gen2 speeds which shouldn't impact day to day use at all unless you are moving lots of data (I've run Doom 2016 + other games off an mSATA SSD in my T430 in the past). ThinkPads er generelt også bygget til at holde i lang tid. Jeg bruger stadig en T430 fra 2012 til mit PhD-studie. Når den engang ikke kan mere køber jeg en nyere (brugt) ThinkPad.

The legendary ThinkPad T430! That machine is a tank, and honestly, the i5-3320m / HD 4000 combo is the ultimate test for our WebGL optimization. Since you are running Fedora/KDE, you are in a great positions to give us some very specific feedback. Linux Firefox sometimes needs a little 'nudge' for W
