I was surprised to see my T430 at the end there, I just posted that the other day! Feels good to be officially seen as a ThinkPad user, although I also have a late 2013 MacBook Pro 15" that I've had for 12 years and do not baby either. I just spent a few hours the other week rubbing the screen down

ThinkPad. Go for the T series. It will cost you more. But its longevity and upgradeability will save you even more. My T430 lasted 12 years. It didn't even break down. I sold it off real cheap to a student in need.

Lenovo ThinkPad. Go for the T series, like the T14. General purpose, very reliable and durable. I bought a T430s in 2012. It worked well for the 12 years I had it. I gave it away last year to a student in need. It still worked very well for basic tasks. I only had to change the battery, which was mo

The T480 can handle most of the tasks you have mentioned although I highly doubt League of Legends could run well on hardware this old. Hell, I once used a ThinkPad T420 to play Roblox without issues on the other hand although that was 7 - 8 years ago now, when the T480 was new therefore the game li

At this point, the T series has been an ultrabook for longer than its traditional format. There's just no demand for a T420-type laptop nowadays, and it's also completely unnecessary to make a laptop that bulky now. Back then processors were socketed, used more power, PCBs were less compact, everyth

I wouldn't buy anything older than a T430/T530/W530 as my FIRST ThinkPad, and here's why: The T420 has the BETTER old-school "7-row" Keyboard. Once you get used to the excellent 7-row keyboard, you will never want to buy a newer ThinkPad because the newer keyboards suck in comparison.

You can dual-boot Windows and Linux if you want. I'd upgrade the RAM though, 6GB will disappear very quickly in Windows. If you have the discrete graphics, you can force discrete graphics in the BIOS and get more performance (or rather, avoid cooking the CPU when videoconferencing) but the downside

Ha this was "my" first ThinkPad. I work IT and this was the Boss' personal laptop when I started. When he moved on to another machine I got this to play with. I really like the trackpad, very "Mac like". This is compared to my only other TP reference, my T430

WOW. To each their own, but I've deployed thousands of laptops in my day. The XPS 13 is one of the worst laptops I've ever deployed. Massive failure rate. The fans die all the time, overheating issues, screen issues. It has by far the WORST designed trackpad I've ever seen. No borders on the trackpa

Depende do equipamento. No meu ThinkPad T430, de 2012, o Xorg roda mais liso. Se for um equipamento mais novo, o wayland pode ser uma opção melhor. Agora estou esperando pra ver o Xlibre vingar...
