What espresso machine did you start on, and would you recommend it to a beginner today?
Just got a Gaggia Classic a few months ago, so still learning lots but I think I’m doing ok. I’ve been temp surfing with it and that’s made wonders for consistency, I want to get one of the PID mods for it soon tho lol.

What espresso machine did you start on, and would you recommend it to a beginner today?
Have nearly 25 years old Gaggia classic ( pressure modded only) Eureka grinder It’s up to you to believe me or not but I have not tasted better espresso for nearly two decades than what I make at home. Whom ever tries my coffee swears by it. Bottom line is GC is an excellent espresso machine. Pair i

Rec for buying an at home espresso machine [Budget up to $2k]
Gaggia classic is a very capable machine. If you want something easy, I recommend Nespresso. If you want to explore espresso as a hobby, keep the Gaggia and improve your grind and puck prep.

totally new!!
Firstly; congrats on the new job! It's awesome that you're looking to improve on your own time as well! My advice is to avoid super cheap machines when you're starting out though. You can get foam with it and practice your pours, but the process can be super annoying/different/ inconsistent to the p

Gaggia Classic Modding Honest Read needed
My level of knowledge and skill in regards to tinkering about are, I would consider, pretty low. I have no idea how a computer works, but i have built about a dozen of them, I don't really understand much about electricity and would never give any real advice to anyone about it, but i am sensible en

Sooo you’re saying I can keep my crappy $99 espresso machine if I get a killer grinder?
Gaggia Classic Evo Pro 24 + DF54. I had the same budget as you and these two had me making great coffee straight out of the box, before purchasing any accessories (apart from a scale) or modifying the machine. It's been a perfect place to start for me. There's also a highly active subreddit specific

Favorite spot at home
I love it! It really feels like there are an abundance of features on it. Steaming is good and powerful, nothing like a commercial machine of course, but about 20 seconds for about 8 oz of milk. Pulls good shots, I enjoy the pre infusion and the option to set the temps of my boilers. The "schedule s

Simple machine recommendation, beginner friendly [no clue about the price, but affordable]
If you didn't have to prepare a puck in the portafilter it was most definitely a super automatic or Nespresso type machines. Here you should expect to get recommendations for entry levelenthusiast setups most likely a different experience than the Philips machine. Espresso can be a lot more than jus

My sweet little Gaggia setup ❤️🔥 I own the combo for 2 month now and I am a fan 😊
I also joined the Gaggia Classic club like 2-3 weeks ago and I am still learning. Sometimes I still do things wrong and water splashes everywhere, but I guess it's part of the process. I'm liking the machine very much. And thanks to this community for all the insights reading your comments and posts

Middle Ground between Dunkin and an $8 dollar tiny latte?
Probably not the “right” grinder for espresso though. It’s capable but the grind time is long, the duty cycle would get in the way for back-to-back shots, and it’s more designed as what is effectively a powered mobile “hand grinder.” Frankly if the goal is cheap-ish and milk drinks one of the combo
