At Most, How Much do Digitally Zoom In to a Shot?
Sports/adventure videographer/dp here. Often run Canon R5IIs (previously R5, R5C) in difficult environments (heavy snow primarily). The R5II stands out as having pretty great dynamic range for a MILC style body, internal 12bit raw (no need for external recorders adding bulk and compromising sealing)

Immigrant from Canon, settled on S1M2. Never knew I would ever own Lumix! Any tips?
I agree.. I upgraded to R5M2 from R6 (mainly for the extra resolution for birding). But already picked up a S5M2X and S9 before the upgrade (for video and to have a lighter everyday camera). By now, for another body or upgrade (from S5M2X) I would rather want a S1M2 than a R6M3 or C50. Canon is nice

Honestly. Accurate. I will never understand how R5m2 is considered “hybrid”. I was one step far away from ordering C50 and considered R6m3 for 20mins but nah… One thing I hate about Canon was they play games too much with customers. How come $3,899 worth of “hybrid camera” in 2025 cannot do 4k 60p o

Why some photos feel crisp ?
I used to be very envious of Sony's superior video performance until the R6mk3, R1 and R5mk2 closed the gap considerably. As an amateur birder (and wildlife photographer) I've never been envious of Sony's performance in this field. I'm not saying they're bad, but some of the best birders and nature

canon r5m2 vs nikon z8 advice
Honestly, I'd get a 200-800 and then hunt R5m2 deals. The 100-500's equivalent in Nikon land is the 100-400 S, which has one advantage (use of a TC doesn't lock out shorter focal lengths) and one disadvantage (needs a TC to get to 500mm). The R5m2 is basically a drop-in equivalent to the Z8, just wi

In your experience, what are the most reliable mirrorless cameras your photographers have used on set?
I actually thought about the D850 because I could get it used for a good deal locally. But then I just figured, why not go full on mirrorless since I can shoot video with it as well. (I shoot reels of interiors when a client needs both photos and videos.) As I said in the other comment, I personally

Best Bang-for-Buck Hybrid Camera for Portraits, Events, and Content ?
For Canon it's IMO still the R6II, it does most of what the R5II does for (nowadays) half the price. The R6III came out in November but it improved almost only the video capabilities. If you need to drown in 7K footage, it's only $1000 more. But for 2K or less it's definitely the best. As for lenses

Does my mantra about doing photos and videos simultaneously make sense?
The humble Canon R5ii will do both at the same time with the latest firmware. It will be jpeg photos as raw is not available in that format. PAL I think limits it to 8fps for photos and 10 fps for the other format. Have to use the disclaimer on photos quality. Using a locking remote for photos helps

180 degree camera for historical immersive video
Canon R5 c + 5.2mm if it fits your budget (R5 Mark II can also do 8K @ 60 fps). Even more high-end and more expensive would be Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive for VR180-3D.

Double down on Canon while moving to interview filming from photography?
Esp at the current price of the c70 today, it’s a steal for that sensor. If you can stretch it I’d go C300iii over the c70 or get em both for an A and B cam setup or use your R6 as a bcam to the C300. Currently I shoot with the c400 and C50 and couldn’t be happier with the entire canon ecosystem, es
