Just updated my 1G internet plan and they sent me new router to replace my old one. Seems maybe not as good?? Thoughts issues?

Yeah CR1000a came first. In my experience it was a bit more reliable but not sure why. There was nothing wrong with your G3100 either it would have worked fine. That is more of a coding/billing thing that they sent you a new one. You should enable the IoT network on the router and try connecting you

New fios router?

It's not SON, it's my own router with son off, and I would never use son on a Verizon router. It's on WiFi but it's a widespread issue. The cr1000a will cap out at 100 upload for me, even on gig, no matter the settings, while my own router does 200 something upload which is better, but still not cor

Verizon G3100 continues to drop WAN port to 100Mbps

the 12-hour reset pattern is the tell. G3100 has two very common causes for WAN pegging at 100Mbps: the ONT-to-G3100 ethernet run has a marginal pair. 1000BASE-T uses all 4 pairs, 100BASE-TX uses only 2. if one pair is intermittently open or shorted, the link renegotiates down and sticks there. cabl

Help with what’s needed: Tv + Internet

You don't need 2 set top boxes, but need at least one. You can use the Verizon Home app on 2nd TV but IMO the box experience is better than the app, and it costs the same amount to use either so choose the box. You can use the adapters to provide a hardwired connection to devices if you want. But th

Is there any way to extend CR1000B router wirelessly?

Do I have any options or am I just out of luck? Yeah sadly as you've discovered the CE1000a is the extender model meant to work fully with the CR1000 which includes wireless support. Unfortunately Verizon currently has very limited supply of these so they are limiting to the 2gb customers for the ti

Anyone else?

I have a Flint 2 and want it to be my primary router but I have Fios+ tv service. Has there been any workarounds yet to using the verizon supplied G3100? That thing sucks. My 5 ghz wifi constantly drops requiring reboots to get it back.

Help with Home Network. Involves FIOS, MOCA, and Deco Mesh

Thank you u/plooger for all these options / suggestions. I’ll need to do some investigating of the factors you raised (e.g., power access for an additional MoCA near the ONT, etc.,) to see which among them is most feasible. The last 24 hours I audited the coax runs in the house including swapping a

G3100 or CR1000

Verizon tech could not get my Eerro network to work with the CR1000, replaced my failing G3100 with a rebuilt one on his truck. Works like a charm....

Ready to upgrade from VMS1100 and increase internet speed. What do I want?

Tv One or VMS4100 and G3100 are probably the best devices Verizon uses. Im not sure who told you the 3100 wasn't reliable but might I say THEY aren't reliable because I think it's the best router Verizon has offered, even better than the newest Cr1000.

Customer Service issue, at my wit's end

I am staying with the G3100. You all have talked me out of “upgrading“. I did some other research and found out that the new router is unreliable. I have been chatting with the Verizon support person to make sure everything is OK on my account.
