Help with choosing a NAS
I have little experience with QNAP NAS solutions—I have one of their switches and it's great—but I do have a DXP8800 Plus and for your needs, UGOS should be fine. UGREEN also will continue to support the hardware if you install a different OS on it (e.g., TrueNAS, Unraid, Ubuntu Server, etc.).

RAM Upgrade
During the first UGreen NAS Kickstarter I sourced a DXP8800 Plus. It came with an 8GB DDR5 SODIMM and I figured I’d upgrade to 16GB which I did rather cheaply by buying another 8GB SODIMM. The thinking there is that I could always upgrade to 64GB later. That was an error in thinking but hindsight is

Nas Ugreen DXP2800. Problem Hdd WD Red Plus and Iron Wolf !
I’ve never heard that before. I have all HDD bays populated on my UGreen DXP8800 Plus and both M.2 slots populated as well. No issues.

DXP4800 Plus will take 96GB of RAM
I clearly just said it was a sale at Best Buy. I got it a couple weeks ago. I have two models. UGREEN NAS 480T with 4x Samsung 990 Pro 4TB. Other is the DXP8800 Plus with 4x Seagate 24TB (96TB) hard drives with 2x Samsung 990 Pro 4TB nvme which is mainly used for caching. One of the slots on the 880

Ugreen, we need GPU passthrough & VM support on UGOS
For me: Integrated GPU passtrhough would be the most useful. That would probably impact the most users right off the bat. My second priority would be PCIe passthrough. I would prefer not to have an external GPU on my DXP8800 Plus but would like to use the PCIe. I think all three will be greatly apre

What NAS BRAND?? UGREEN Plus and Pro versions. Advice needed.
I had used several UGREEN products in the past and was very satisfied with them as a brand. When they moved into the NAS market, it made sense, but I was apprehensive about the newness of UGOS. That said, almost from the start they were very open about letting you installing your own OS, so that is

Finally part of the UGreen Family!
Very nice indeed! I have the same UGreen DXP8800 Plus but it was sourced through the original Kickstarter via a pledge a little under ~$1000 USD. I started off with three 14TB and three 16TB WD Red drives that I already had. I also added a couple of NVMe SSD of 512GB capacity that are now 1TB. In ad

Looking for recommendation - Switching from Synology
QNAP is marginally newer hardware than Synology with worse software. If all you're doing on there is SMB or NFS shares and backup, I'd suggest you get used to an open NAS platform like TrueNAS Scale (based on Linux, unlike TrueNAS Core which is based on BSD). Main difference is you don't have as man

My first TrueNAS build - so far it has been great
I seriously considered building a TrueNAS around that N305 motherboard. They got them on Amazon for about $300. Very compelling for the price and what you get. 8x sata (via 2x SAS connectors), 2x NVMe, onboard 10Gb + 2x 2.5Gb…even a PCIe 1x slot if you don’t use WiFi. Considered throwing a SATA card

First NAS/Home Server Build
The UGreen DXP models are sort of the best of both worlds because they don’t lock the OS. It’s functionally just a computer that you can install anything you like on. I’ve got a DXP8800 Plus. Didn’t even bother with their OS, immediately installed TrueNAS. I put in 96GB RAM, 2x 4TB nvme SSD’s for us
