NAS is dead. What should I move to?
I’d avoid Synology, they’ve been causing quite the controversy lately. UGreen has some nice pre built NAS in 2/4/6/8 bay models that let you install any OS you want, including TrueNAS. They have a 4 bay model and another 4 bay with 10Gbe. DXP4800 and DXP4800 Plus. Base model is Intel n100 CPU with 3

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas?
I never used UGOS. I’m sure it’s fine but TrueNAS has been extremely good on my DXP4800+.

Replaced UGOS with Unraid and not looking back! See image
I too would like to know. I'm a week into my new DXP4800+ and without any other point of reference UGOS does everything I need it to do.

I think I'm getting off this ride
I tried the UGOS on my new Ugreen DXP4800+ for a few days, and quickly went back to DSM with Arc Loader. My thinking is that if Synology does break Xpenology completely, then my existing version will keep working just fine, likely with security updates for at least a year which is loads of time to f

DXP4800 Plus drive and upgrade advice
I’m running a DXP4800 Plus fully built out, so here’s some real-world feedback. Drives: 12TB is a solid starting point, but if budget allows, bigger drives age better. I’m running 4×24TB WD Red Pro and noise/heat are totally manageable with the stock chassis (I did swap to a quieter fan). In practic

Have you replaced the operating system on your Ugreen Nas?
I use Proxmox on my dxp4800+ and dxp2800 also… On Proxmox i run a virtual maschine with TrueNAS installed.. it gives freedom to use different virtual maschines and LXC containers on both NAS while keeping the performance high.. Was very easy on dxp4800+.. less on the dxp2800 as i had trouble to get

Synology walks back drive restrictions on upcoming NAS models
I purchased my first pre-built NAS this year because I'm tired of building my own stuff. I went with UGREEN specifically because of this restriction. Way to go, Synology. I really like my DXP4800+.

Noctua NF-B9 redux installed
I just stuck a P14 Pro in my DXP4800+ and wow does that move more air. Its like twice as much air coming out between the drive slats.

Considering moving to TrueNAS
How is the performance of Truenas and docker containers? 100% Flawless. I switched from UGOS mid 2025 after 4 or 5 months of usage and after 2 consecutive ugos updates that "messed up" their docker integration that needed 3 reboots. "Mmmm do I really trust Ugreen enought to have my main server (DXP2
